Replying To currinman:  "Honestly think staying in division 2 would be better. Saves been in a dogfight every year before the championship even starts... Division would allow us to be a fresher team going into championship football instead of this embarrassing stuff of fans running onto the clones pitch like we won an ireland for just avoiding relegation.

Last 2 ulster winners played division 2 as did last 2 all ire land winners..

I think stay Div 2 and avoid what happened the corks, derry, down cavan and even kildare of last year of back to back relegation."
hard to disagree with this...also we won our 2013 ulster from division 3 i think.

However, its hard to beat playing the big sides and the league is the best competition. my fear is now we'll slide into mediocrity like the kildares, cavans and meaths of this world

Agree with all that to a point. The order of the fixture list hasn't done us any favours. Away to Cavan and Roscommon in the first three competitive games for a new manager who is trying to manage these players for the first time as well as a whole host of new rules that nobody really knows how they will work out is a very tough ask!
Means that the home game against Westmeath in between those away games is probably a must win otherwise the pressure will really be on just to stay up and qualify for the All Ireland.

Not wanting to be negative - just realistic.

Fair play to Errigal Ciaran. Great to see the neighbours from Ballygawley get over the line. Will be hard stopped for tge All Ireland.

Maybe Jack should of went there since he has a connection also. Could of had a county title that he was thriving to win causing his move to Scotstown and an Ulster medal which has slipped from Scotstowns grips so many times recently.

But all joking aside, Fair play to Errigal. Won so many games in the dying moments. Shows their character. Seems to be a great mix of youth and experience within their panel. From watching Dr Crokes on Sunday also, Errigal will not fear them. Obviously they aren't the team they were 8/9 years ago. Experience in this stage of the competition will stand to Dr Crokes though but all to play for, bonus territory for Errigal.

Hopefully we get a good game and we shall be cheering on our provincial winners.

Yes fair play to them. Ulster club final was there for them and they kept there discipline and delivered.

The most hilarious part of your post is that you don't believe Monaghan too are mediocre. You've won nothing in the last decade and are heading down the divisions. What's more, you're relying on old warriors to rescue the slide. No more 'we beat top teams in January' titles for a while lad. I have to break it to you, you've been mediocre for years.

There's about 100 different threads on the Cavan forum and you're posting on the Monaghan forum. What does that tell you about Cavan football? (Hint it's rubbish).

probably agree with you to some extent...mediocrity maybe a poor choice of words...insignificant would be more appropriate...

I would imagine a new challenge, been there since 2007-very time consuming job and constantly setting standards. I wish Paul all the best, our minor success and senior success over the past 15 years was due to him in many ways.
