Jimmy, who passed to his eternal reward on October 9th, had the distinction of captaining Castlepollard to their first ever minor hurling championship in 1956. He played county minor the following year and remained a loyal supporter and generous sponsor to the club after his playing career ended.
A guard of honour was provided for Jimmy - who was a plasterer by trade and spent some time in Canada - by Castlepollard hurling club as his remains were taken to the local St. Michael's Church.
