Garrycastle GAA was plunged into mourning following the death of Dan Nugent last October. A keen supporter of the club since its formation in 1981, he took enormous satisfaction and pride from its seven SFC title wins between 2001 and 2014, and the historic Leinster club SFC success of 2011.

Dan's Tavern has been a focal point for the club and the wider community since it opened in 1994 and Dan was a generous sponsor to the club down through the years. He is sadly missed by everyone who knew him, especially his wife Daphne, sons Alan and David, daughters Nicola and Kim, brothers Seamus and Paddy Joe, his sister Pauline and extended family and friends.
