Fionnuala's tragic death in Perth, Australia in November was devastating news to the people of the Delvin-Collinstown area. Aged just 31 and living Down Under for two years, she attended primary school in Collinstown and it was here that her camogie skills were honed and nurtured. Fionnuala won an U12 'premier' camogie championship medal with Lough Lene Gaels in 1995 and continued to line out for the club up until 1999.

Her older sisters Sinead, Eimear, Ailish and Mary Jo also represented the Gaels in camogie.
