Walsh, Gerry

Galway native Gerard 'Gerry' Walsh, who died on Saturday, June 18th, 2016, spent some time in Delvin before settling in Butterfield, Irishtown, Mullingar. He was a member of the St Loman's GAA Club. A keen Gael, he never lost his passion for the Tribesmen and often attended Connacht football and All-Ireland hurling championship matches. During his many years involved with Loman's, Gerry served in a variety of capacities, including coach and secretary. He had lived in Westmeath since the mid-1960s. After settling in Mullingar with his wife, Eithne, he became involved with Loman's, serving as secretary for two years. He also had a stint as PRO and continued to follow the fortunes of the club thereafter, always keeping close tabs on how the Blues were performing. Members of the club provided a Guard of Honour alongside workers from St Loman's Hospital, where Gerry worked.
