Former Castledaly footballer John Colclough, Syngefield, Birr, County Offaly passed away on Tuesday, June 27th, 2017. John was the last surviving member of the Castledaly team that won their breakthrough Westmeath junior football championship in 1942 before controversially losing the title on appeal afterwards. Originally from Clonbonny, he was a pacey half forward who went on to collect SFC honours with Athlone during the 1950s. Castledaly GAA Club extended its sympathies to the Colclough family.
