Henson, Kieran

The death on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 of Castledaly GAA Club President Kieran Henson, Cartrons, Fardrum, Athlone caused a deep sense of sadness in Castledaly and the surrounding area. Kieran had a strong association with Castledaly and Westmeath GAA all his life. Alongside his brother, Johnnie, he served as a steward at Croke Park for many years. He was extremely proud of the fact that his nephew, Ciaran, was a member of the winning team when Castledaly collected their first-ever Westmeath SFC in 2008.

Kieran Henson represented Castledaly with distinction both on and off the field of play. After hanging up his boots, he capably filled many roles within the club, including selector, County Board rep and club President - a role he filled with tremendous dignity and generosity. He will be sadly missed but his invaluable contribution to the local GAA club will never be forgotten. Kieran's legacy is carried on today by his family.
