Coolderry V Ballyboden Leinster Club SH Semi Final - 2 Like(s)
1. No one from Coolderry blamed Ballyboden for anything that went on at the weekend. Ballyboden played the game as it was in front of them, the same as any team would. That's all that they could do and the best of luck to them in the final against Ballyhale. I hope they give it a good rattle 2. Also you point out that Coolderry blamed the referee for their own discipline (or indiscipline as would be the correct term). Coolderry never disputed or blamed the referee for any of the cards or decisions that made at the weekend. All players that got their marching orders walked off without much protest and took it on the chin. The 1st one I thought was debateable but the referee had a good view of the last one and the 2nd one his umpires were right there. I think you're picking up the frustration towards the ref and linking it with the red cards, when it's for something entirely different. Maybe you're reading into other posters, but Coolderry, although not ideal to help our cause, took no issue with them for the most part. The reason we felt aggrieved on the day was mainly for the inconsistency from the referee on the puck outs and particularly on him playing twice the amount of stoppage time he had indicated to us that he was going to play when we were a goal behind on 60mins, hence why we went for goal obviously. Ballyboden and Coolderry have a history over the past 20 years or so, playing each other regularly in matches both competitively and practice matches. One of our own, Liam Hogan managed them to an unprecedented 5 in a row back in 2011. Going on to just lose out to Coolderry at the same venue as last Sunday in a very tight game in another Leinster semi final. They beat us in a Leinster league final a few years back. I know that 1 or 2 of our lads hurled with arguably Ballybodens greatest ever hurler Stephen Perkins in Australia for a while also, and struck up a good comradery because of the links between the clubs. Another one of our longest serving members, Vincent Teehan done trojan work for Dublin Collages teams for years which had scores of Ballyboden underage players also. I could go on with the links between the two. And although when you look at the settings of both which are very different, there's more respect between these 2 clubs than most will ever know. To say we blamed Ballyboden for something that only the referee had control over is one thing I won't let be said. Best of luck to Ballyboden. They are a fine team and have really been galvanised with some tough battles both in Dublin against Crokes and Leinster against ourselves and Clonkill. Hopefully they go on and win it now. wing back (National) - 20/11/2018 13:14:35 |
