Surprised to see Jarly Óg Burns getting in. I suppose he did play well throughout the year, but surely Matthew Whittaker will feel hard done by. I saw him play against us in Leinster; great runs forward and an attacking threat.

Replying To ulsterrules: "All stars always throw up a debate, but the all ireland winners and finalists normally get the lions share and rightly so. But at intercounty level each team can only win 1 of 2 national titles(all Ireland & National League) and 1 provincial title. Obviously Zero credit is given to the National league even though it is 1 of only 2 national titles you can win, but there is no way the 4 counties below should have an all star in 2026, ahead of Armagh/Roscommon/Kerry/Westmeath players who all won a provincial title.
(Louth) While they backed up 2025's performance in 2026 by getting to the provincial final, they lost and Won Nothing (Tyrone) Did nothing in Ulster or All ireland of note and Won nothing (Dublin) Had some good games at the business end of the championship but got relegated and knocked out early in leinster, Won nothing and got relegated (Monaghan) Had a couple of exciting games, but Won nothing and got relegated
While these players are all great players
for example between league and championship Michael Langan scored 40 points from midfield this season Conn Kilpatrick 9 points Oisin Conaty scored 41 points this season 20 points more than Niall Scully Durmuid Murtagh scored 76 points this season 47 points more than Steven O'Hanlon" Since when has the national league had any bearing on all-stars? As it stands it's already heavily weighted towards last 8 (and especially last 4), why is the league even being mentioned as a factor here?

Replying To WanPintWin: "It's an individual award not a team award. Saying team A won a provincial title, therefore they should have more players than Team B doesn't make any sense. One could simply be a better team, but the other might have an individual player who performed better than anyone they had. Naturally the teams who get to the latter stages will have more players, as they're generally performing better and there's an opportunity for their players to put in good displays on the biggest days. Simply looking at scoring is also misleading, especially for players whose role is completely different. I actually thought Con Kilpatrick should have won an award last year. He was very good all year and outstanding against Kerry in the semi-final. He was very good again this year. He's a real driving force from the middle." the 3 examples below were selected in the same position as the eventual winner, and there is nobody on this forum or I suggest in the real world that given the option would go for a 9 point season midfielder over a 40 point season midfielder. Or a forward who scores double what another forward scores. It is only 1 stat but it is what the game is fundamentally about

Fitzpatrick was immense in every game, Langan can kick points brilliantly but midfield weakness cost Donegal throughout the championship

Yes but Westmeath never getting both wing back positions, we had a brilliant year but not getting to a quarter final and getting two AS simply not going to happen

Replying To Gaa_lover: "Decent research.
Apparently the All Star selection committee had a lot of new faces this year and by the looks of it wanted to be different with some bizarre selections" Which bizarre selections??

It was Westmeath v dublin Leinster final

Not a massive difference and CK does a huge amount more than score. He's a serial ball winner, brilliant tackler, and carries the ball up the middle as well as any midfielder. League is pretty irrelevant when it comes to All-Stars and has been for a long time.

Replying To Claretandblue: "Which bizarre selections??" Ronan Wallace over Matthew Whittaker
Sam Callinan over Donnacha McHugh and O Brien.
Finding All Star spot Armagh,Westmeath for winning a provincial championships but none for Roscommon even though they won their province by comfortably beating the All-Ireland champions to be and All Star nominee standing out.
Just three for Kerry and two weren't even among their best players IMO.
