Which is why they're the greatest team to ever play the game bar none. I don't expect to see any team replicate what the Dubs did during those years. Whilst this years championship has been exciting, you couldn't say it was a spectacle of skill, still a lot of teams afraid to go for two pointers and far too concentrated on possession. I think also the goal will have to increase to 4 points to encourage teams to attack and not take safe options like handpassing round the arc to get in positions to kick one pointers. As well, no team should be able to loose twice & still be in contention for an All Ireland. Still a few tweaks needed to the championship to increase the jeopardy required to improve the game.

I agree about 4 points for a goal. That should never have been dropped from the original proposals.

Not that it really matters but no team did lose twice in the competition and win the All Ireland this year. Mayo only lost once in the competition, to Tyrone.
They also lost once in the Provincial Championship and twice in the National League, both of which are separate qualifying competitions for the All Ireland.

Well it does matter to be honest. The provincals are part of the All Ireland and hopefully always will be but of course now the talk is that it will not be as important as the 'next' phase of the championship going into the future. Lots of counties, including your own would be more than delighted to win a provincal. The idea that any team could loose twice and win an All Ireland is just wrong and needs to be looked at.

It's not possible to lose twice in the current format Sam Maguire, and still win the competition. Lose twice, you're gone.

This was the first year that winning a provincial title was irrelevant.
The league dictates which championship you play in.
When it comes to AI series results in the league or provisional are irrelevant.
You can only afford to lose one AI series match and ho all the way.

It is. Dublin were beaten by Westmeath and Louth. And didn't Mayo lose twice actually? Provincials and next rounds are all part of same competition.

Provincials are no more a part of the AI than the league is.
