Best of luck to Mark McHugh, his management team and the entire panel of players in their quest for glory against Galway on Sunday.

Clearly it's a really tough game against Tier 1 opponents & 1 of the favourites for this year's AI. Our team has really overachieved this season and will go down in history. If we can maintain the huge momentum of the past few weeks & play to our capabilities who knows what might happen!

Safe travels to all WH supporters and hopefully there will be massive away support in Pearce stadium.

I think we've been playing at a much higher intensity than Galway. They haven't seem to taken to the new hurls YET. Let's hope that doesn't happen Sunday. Full faith in this team. Midfield battle is huge as usual.
Why is there a new podcast, what was the fall out with the old one?

Replying To 2maroonjerseys:  "Watched the new podcast, same as the old podcast but judging by the opening statement it appears there's no road back with the county board. Any reason why they didn't speak of the div5,6 and 7 league finals?"
I would have thought that the podcast needed to be outside arms reach of a county board and ran independent. It was a natural progression. Most county podcasts are independent. Great job and delighted to see they spoke around a table which allows for natural chat. Drop the plastic water bottles next time and use glasses.

The better team won on the day. Nonetheless we stayed fighting until the end. Very proud of these lads. Hopefully a home draw next round. Any word on why Cooney went off?

We died with our boots on correct and we were very brave but we beat ourselves. The first Galway goal was a total give away and right on half time when we had fought back so well Sam Mccartan who had been superb had a rush of blood to his head which ultimately cost us the game. The loss of both midfielders and Whitaker were huge losses and Mchugh has to take flak for leaving Scahill on Walsh for the entire game.
Dont get me wrong Mccartan and Mchugh are brilliant but not perfect and we have massive potential and need to learn from our mistakes.

Any word why top scorer from play in Ireland went off with 10 minutes to go?

Oncee again the lads gave it their all today and went head to head with a very good Galway team.To give away that goal just on the break was a killer blow-we had a chance to hold the ball and get a shot away and maybe go in 3 pts down but giving away simple possession and concede a goall we go in 7 pts down-similiar I suppose to Wexford game.Nonethelesss although Galway shaded it we were still in the game right to the death.Unbelievable support again today so hopefully whoever or wherever we have to go we will give the lads full support-they definately deserve it

No we didn't beat ourselves. Galway were the better side throughout, we did brilliantly to keep within reasonable distance but Galway could easily have scored 5-6 goals. They're rightly All Ireland contenders, we know we're not at that level yet. Their efforts were fantastic

Thought it was big call too but then again if Shane comes on a kicks a few scores to win the game it is a masterstroke. Can't get them all right unfortunately..

Fair play to all the Westmeath fans who made the trip west today. It made for some occasion. There's nothing like a full house on a championship Sunday, and the weather helped too.
A fine game too and if Westmeath had got their hands on the last kickout, who knows what would have happened. The goal before half-time gave us a cushion and we managed most of the second-half pretty well against the breeze. Even an 8 or 9 point lead with less than 10 minutes left isn't safe in the modern game, and you almost clawed it back.
The best of luck next weekend.

Game management has been a problem all year and it cost us again today. TJ cox v Wexford. Danny scahill free v Kildare ( got away with it but if beirne was yard further out we are out of Leinster championship) Sam McCarton today just before ht. 4 points with the wind would have been a different story. We need to learn from these mistakes ! Let's see who morning brings !

by god tho these boys have all the heart and courage and belief any team could ever want
so proud of them all and their leader mchugh
let's hope for a home draw and see what happens whoever the opposition are

Because he was nearly dead on his feet. He had emptied the tank. We loose a game and all these bandwagon fans on now questions MC Hugh. Next year when we paly Laois and Offaly etc in the league it will be back to the genuine supporters who support the team through thick and thin

Lads I know its no consolation in defeat but your team and supporters are a credit. Immense occasion in Salthill yesterday, best of luck against Monaghan.

I wouldn't be giving anyone any flak. There is a reason why McHugh is the manager and you are where you are. We have exceeded all expectations this summer already and none of these players or the manager deserve any negative commentary. Shane Walsh is unmarkable in this current form. I thought Scahill did quite well on him and will have learned an awful lot from it. There were times I thought a few of his colleagues could have helped him a bit more as you do need help marking someone like Shane Walsh but said players were some of our younger players and a bit nieve. But they will all have learned so much from that game. We can go and take on Monaghan with our heads held high and a realistic chance of beating them. Wouldn't that be something.

I just hope our walking wounded recover in time to give us a fighting chance.

Nobody is questioning Mchugh he has done a wonderful job but like us all, perfect he isnt. If people cant offer constructive criticism we wont go anywhere. As outlined by a few people mistakes were made on and off the field and if we learn and the injured players recover we will have every chance in Clones. If we dont learn and bury our head in the sand we will stay in division 3.

Somehow the draw actually favours us nearly better than Galway not that we should be even thinking like that. Kickouts just killed us to be in the game being absolutely dominated on kickouts just shows what a team we have and on another day with Ray and cooney on the field for the second half we would have won our fair share. Kickouts was an issue throughout the league so we're going to have to do a lot of work between then and next week. Beggan is arguably the best goalie in Ireland his kickouts and frees keep Monaghan in games.
