Got what we deserved. We're not good enough to go out and play in 3rd gear, lack of respect for the opposition, arrogance, whatever you want to call it. You have to earn the right to win football matches, Donegal were poor today. Says a lot when the only player willing to take a shot in the last couple mins was a young lad who'd just come on.

Would'nt right them off yet. One issue which keeps reocurring is a seeming inability to consistently win breaks around the middle off either our kickout or the oppositions. If we don't get a short kockout away or McGee, Murphy, Langan don't catch it clean we invariably lose the breaks. It was a massive issue last years All Ireland, we seemed to have rectified it in the league, but in the 3 championship games to date its resurfaced. Our efficiency up front, solid defence and the way the second half went papered over that being a major issue for 20 mins of the first half against Kerry. We usually play poor when everyone fancies us. Plenty of games over the last 10-15 years where everyone expects a routine win and we somehow lose. If we get Monaghan now…could be goodnight to us. I worry Jim will step away this summer. Worried about it before the game and worry more now.

Under the new rules and competition, if you are 5-10% off it, you will struggle to win against any of the top 14 . A 5 point lead is nothing in todays game. In his previous term, 5 points for a Jim McGuinness team was basically game over. That's going to hurt but no time to mourn. Need to go the hard way now and probably beat Dublin/Monaghan next week and then probably Galway or Armagh. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 471 - 13/06/2026 19:05:11 2679312 Link 0 |

It is impossible I believe for any manager in gaa to prevent players from believing that they will win no matter how they play. 1-13 at home is a poor score even with the old rules. Also Cork are a team that can pop up and take any opposition while seemingly not having the form to do so. Could be looking at a repeat of last year in Castlebar if we do not overcome Tyrone tomorrow.

Good luck with getting tickets for that.

Monaghan will smell blood and their 2 point shooting is better than Corks. Ours isn't great. So it could be a similar result unless we cop ourselves on. Away from home too…and let's be real, if we got Armagh in a quarter, they would absolutely batter us on recent form.

Thats twice we were beaten in the championship this year, we're very lucky to still be in competition. Because i dont know if we deserve to be, given we were beaten well at home by a division 3 team, and today, if cork had of took their chances and their one on one goal opportunity, it would have been another bad beating, by a div 2 team!!! Fair play to cork they deserved to win, but in my oppinion, donegal individually player by player are far better, but collectively as a team, cork are better. And that lays at the feet of the donegal management. Donegal could still win the all ireland but it will be in spite of the management, and not because of them. But we have still got a chance but we need to be better than that scrap today gaeltacht81 (Donegal) - Posts: 35 - 13/06/2026 19:36:06 2679324 Link 0 |

Embarassing stuff really, you could be optimistic and presume they've been training heavy to peak for Croke Park but the evidence is that they've played 3 championship games and been terrible in 2 and the other they had a gale wind behind them for the only half of 15v15. Looks like the goose is cooked for the year. joeteor (Donegal) - Posts: 272 - 13/06/2026 19:41:56 2679326 Link 1 |

No team that's lost 2 out of 3 games is winning an all Ireland. If we avoid Monaghan we probably still make a quarter final but Armagh or Galway would absolutely laugh at us. It's a real shame because with the rossies out now, the only team I was afraid of before today was Armagh. Now it's everyone. Dont know why we don't take more 2 attempts. It's going to be the difference between winning and losing in the the modern game. eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 394 - 13/06/2026 19:46:31 2679329 Link 0 |

How in the name of God would Derry and Tyrone fans have got tickets for this years final if it had been playe before the Senior final. Thousands of Armagh and Monaghan fans couldn't get tickets for the Senior game. People need to cop on. I do agree Dongal and Louth should have been treated better for the B Final. It could have been played on Friday evening with Omagh or Enniskillen as the venue and an 8pm or later throw in.

It was always a 3 horse race for Sam this year, Kerry, Arnagh and Galway.

That draw can't happen. Teams who lost in round 2a will be in the same pot

"Donegal could still win the all ireland but it will be in spite of the management, and not because of them." Are you for real? Donegal were nowhere near all ireland challengers before this management came in and in 2 years we reached a semi final and a final. This year is still too be decided too. And if Jim and the rest of the management walk away this summer, we won't be near any more all ireland finals. 2012, 2014, 2025 are the only All Ireland finals we have been in, in the last 33 years, can you figure out what was the common denominator in those 3 years were? Poor performance today, for sure. But we aren't out of it yet. FootballGuy (Donegal) - Posts: 289 - 13/06/2026 20:16:17 2679341 Link 0 |
