Would I be correct in saying that it would be much better for our All Ireland series chances next year that Down win Tailteann cup this year ? mul (Westmeath) - Posts: 22 - 08/06/2026 14:12:26 2678684 Link 0 |

Sure if ye win the all Ireland this year then don't get promoted in Div 3, and fail to make the Leinster final next year. The GAA will have to change the rules - bit like Liverpool winning the champions league and not qualifying through the league a few years back. Best to just go win the thing this year - the GAA will make room for ye somehow tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1872 - 08/06/2026 14:48:05 2678692 Link 0 |

Westmeath i expect will bring plenty of colour. PJ in fairness has increased our support no end since the days of Kevin Walsh who tbf was a good manager in his own right. Our ST allocation trebled in PJs early yrs and has managed to hold for now. The sell out possibility is naturally aided by your impressive run but Galway support haven't been found wanting in recent yrs. Dining at the top table helps. Watch the way our hurling support will mushroom after Saturday. All counties have a bandwagon element which is par for the course.

I've never seen so many clubs to put on buses. It's fantastic to see so much of a buzz building. The players fed off that in Tullamore and Croke park and the second half of extra time in Cusack park. It will be a record for support for an away game (outside of Croke park) surely? Chops (Westmeath) - Posts: 912 - 08/06/2026 16:06:19 2678704 Link 0 |

That's too far fetched to even consider really, of course we'll get promoted next year

Croke park might be trying to puncture the provincial championship with this disregard. 1. Having round 1 draw before the provincial finals were played - looked bad to me. 2. No advantage given to the provincial champion. Maybe they want an end to it and proceed to groups and knockout like rugby / soccer competitions. There's always a reason. But I think the success of WH and Roscommon might have scuppered that thought. Captainfantastic (Westmeath) - Posts: 60 - 08/06/2026 23:27:50 2678755 Link 0 |

Pearse Stadium sold out. Going to be an unbelievable atmosphere. As good as Cusack was a week and a half ago, this will be even better. Would expect the fans to be a 50:50 split if not 60:40 Westmeath. Any know recent updates on the injury list for Sunday? Westmeath4Sam!! (Westmeath) - Posts: 2 - 09/06/2026 21:49:55 2678786 Link 0 |

Team had a training weekend last weekend. Not sure where was kept pretty quiet. No fresh injury worries from what I've heard, but not sure on returning players where they're at

Galway sources reckon more tickets bought by Westmeath fans than home supporters. Capacity is 26,000. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 2664 - 10/06/2026 02:42:48 2678797 Link 0 |

Jesus Mick, ya haven't been at many games in Salthill. Traffic and parking a nightmare

Problem with parking 5 minutes away is it can take hours to get out of Salthill. Was at couple of Connacht finals over last few years and it's terrible for traffic

I'd say there will definitely be more from Westmeath there, possibly even more than 60/40. The sea of maroon and white will give the our lads the rare feeling of what it's like to play in front of a full house at home, until the action starts of course.

Rumor of one massive loss, not really a surprise as he has been doing crazy stuff to get through Dublin and Cavan games.

Hi Claretandblue, hope all is well with you! Any word on why the lads had to start their own podcast? If rumors are though another own goal by you and other county board delegates Will see you in Salthill in the padded seats im sure! Parking isn't bad. There's plenty within 10-15 minutes' walking distance. Traffic getting out of Salthill is the problem.

I don't know what the rumours are but I hope they are also not cutting the streaming of club matches on iarmhi tv
