Replying To BarneyGrant:  "They might fix it for Saturday just to rub nose in it!"
Barney, I am hearing a crowd of close to 40,000 is expected for the Leinster Hurling Final this Sat.

Hopefully Dubs fans turn out in big numbers to support our team. Not often we get to a Leinster Hurling Final.

Although, with the way things are going, the same could be said of our footballers in the coming years… :o(

Clubs seem to be really buying into the ticket scheme for kids. Great idea.

I'd say 40,000 maybe more. They have caught the imagination and hopefully turn in a big performance regardless of a win or not.

The nerves and excitement already kicking in Barney.

I really just hope we play to the best of our ability.
We can't ask for more than that.

These days don't come along that often.
This is only our 6th Leinster Senior Hurling Final in the last 35 years, and we have only won 1 in 65 years - an rud a bhíonn annamh is iontach..!

Our Hurlers deserve a big crowd cheering them on…!

Donegal v Cork, Kildare v Kerry and Cavan v Dublin are the only 3 games that won't be televised…

Not sure what the Dublin management are going to do about the goalkeeping position….!!!

Playing away from Croke Park is actually a good thing for the Dublin footballers these days. And I think it is actually better for us to now play outside of HQ."
Looks like EF is on the same wavelength.

So much for playing in Croke Park being a massive advantage for the Dublin Footballers eh.

Isn't it funny how all the experts suddenly think the Dubs are better off playing outside of Croker now….

A new narrative eh….

Multiply the Dubs by 2.

All the scaremongers - ex players, pundits and posters on here look very foolish now…!

Mass hysteria over a generational squad of footballers,
who once gone left a very average squad coming through behind them…

No one would listen to the Dublin posters on here who knew what was coming down the tracks.

Typical Jarlath Burns and the GAA playing hard ball in public but "soft chatting" the Dubs by playing their game with Cavan on Sunday when Brennan's ban expires instead of on the Saturday when the ban would have still been in place. Sure it's only Cavan no one will mind.

The drop off in Dublin football support has been alarming to say the least. I'd say the players (like the hurlers) would prefer to play in a smaller venue with a better atmosphere.

The break even attendance for Dublin to rent out the use of Croke Park is 30,000 fans.

At what point in time do the DCB take the decision to stop playing our games there…???
The time is fast approaching.

Parnell Pass season ticket holders will be on the decline and at that stage surely Parnell Park needs to be considered for use by our footballers.

Given the existing punishment Brennan got, it's the least they could have done. He was made an example of and has missed all of the championship to-date. You think he should miss more football?

A ban is a ban, no point the GAA and Jarleth Burns pontificating about the minutia detail of the letter of the GAA rule books and how they need to be applied and respected when they on the other hand engineer around them to lessen the affect when it suits.

For what it's worth I believe Brennan was wrong but was dealt with harshly, as a young manager he let himself down, nobody else controlled what he did. Typical GAA application of rules that don't appear to be applied evenly. There always appears to be a technical reason that Burn's can wheel out to justify any point he has.

The rule book appears to allow for a lot of scenarios whereby "if you tell me what you want to prove, I'll prove it" applies. Hence why a lot of counties appear to be able to challenge bans, suspensions along with governance issues as and when they arise from club level up.

Anyway rant over and hopefully Cavan V's Dublin is a cracker.

A ban is a ban and he's served 3 months. What's your issue? Brennan already admitted he was wrong. He said it on the day and apologised. 3 months for what he did is ridiculous. We've had selectors punch players, knocking them to the ground and only get 8 weeks.
You wanted the game to be scheduled on Saturday, just so he could miss another game. If you genuinely think he was dealt with harshly, you wouldn't think him missing another game was fair.

What is the feeling in Cavan this week ahead of the game?? I have a couple of mates up that direction and both were saying it has been strangely flat this year in football terms. Few very good lads not making themselves available to McCabe etc and expectation has been quite low. Probably fairly similar to here in terms of our new readjusted expectations so very hard to know what sort of a game we will get. I think a few of the Dublin looks look like they want the season to be over but I'm hoping for some sort of a response to the last two outings.

Is it that simple though?

A county with your resources, clubs, and population should never produce an average squad of footballers.

Its crazy to go from winning all those Leinsters,6 all Irelands in a row,,(and 9 in 14 seasons, reaching semi finals the other 4 years),to being where you are now.

Looks like it is not just the Dublin fans who are staying away from games these days - Leinster have so far only sold 11,250 tickets for Saturday's URC semi-final v the Stormers in the Aviva Stadium.

Sign of the times…???
