Congrats Roscommon, I hope you take this now and get a good run on the AI championship, a semi final at least and who knows after that. Fine performance, both teams will benefit from today's game and hopefully fly the flag for Connacht well into the AI series

Just relaxing over a few pints after a mighty win. Congratulations to all the panel members, Mark Dowd and his full management team. A little shout out to Mick Comerford our S&C guy who has the team in top shape. Hopefully he can bring us further like he has done with Kilkenny in the past.
Delighted for Diarmuid Murtagh who has toiled for years in the St Faithleachs and Roscommon jerjeys.
To the best of my knowledge only four St Faithleachs players have captained the Roscommon senior team;
Pat Lindsay, Danny Murray, Ciaran Murtagh and Diarmuid Murtagh. All have lifted the Nestor Cup. Some record.
Bring on Tyrone!

Roscommon respect. I've been well impressed by Roscommon since the opening round of the league. Set the cat amongst the pigeons with great results in Division 1. Roscommon have now backed it up in Connacht. Fully deserving winners. Comhghairdeachas!

Wow - Roscommon become the first county in Connacht to make it a clean sweep of Senior, U20 and Minor Football Championship Titles in the same season.

What an achievement.... Excellent stuff. Well done.

Super stuff our fitness a telling difference as we finished a game very strongly once more. Bench impact probably to be expected given our strength in depth not just the 26 but the quality of players that aren't even getting on the 26.

Darragh Heneghan fully deserved his MOTM mad to think the previous management didn't think he was good enough. So many others that stood out today also, Senan Lambe for one outstanding.

To win Connacht Senior,U20,U17 is outstanding achievement and we also had Roscommon teams win the senior and Intermediate club Connacht titles last winter.

Lastly hard luck to Galway. You have been great Connacht champions 12 wins in a row in Connacht I believe and 4 in a row titles, best of luck to you in the All-Ireland series always has been a great respect between the two counties."
Fair play to you and enjoy the celebrations. The win was well deserved.

Slight correction. Its the first time ros have done clean sweep. Galway , on a few occasions, and Mayo have done it previously.

Well done Roscommon didn't throw in the towel when 6 down and 10 to go. Kick some brilliant scores. The Heneghans and Neary have been brilliant up front along with Murtagh

One thing about Roscommon football that doesn't get talked about enough is just how remarkable it is given our population. At just under 71,000 people, Roscommon would be a Division 4 county if the league was based on population.

Yet this year we've already beaten Mayo (~137k) and Galway (~277k), with Tyrone (~189k) up next - and earlier in the league we were competing with Dublin (~1.45 million). That gap is huge.

Whatever has been happening in Roscommon since the 2006 minor All-Ireland has clearly worked. The level of player development across the county has been outstanding, and huge credit is due to everyone involved at all levels.

It genuinely feels like Roscommon could be used as a model for how to maximise limited playing resources.
I'd be interested to hear - what are people seeing on the ground? What's being done right at underage level?

Either way, these are special days. I still remember being in Dr Hyde Park in '01 when Gerry Lohan kicked the winner against Mayo - one of the great memories. Not long after that, we were back in Division 4.

It doesn't last forever. Enjoy it while it's here.

Some record indeed for those St Faithleachs' lads. All fine players. I remember Lindsay and Murray from that fine 4-in-a-row team of 1977-80.

Congratulations of the great win today and on the clean sweep.

Let's hope ye can go even further.

Congratulations Roscommon, surely the greatest Connacht Final of all time. It was game over after Comer's goal but the 2-pointers came to the for yet again. Slowly and surely teams are realising that even a 6-7 point lead is not what it used to be. Great for the game.
Galway very gracious in defeat also, to their credit. It's remarkable looking from afar how Galway and Ros, though big rival in their own right, are united in their bitter disdain for their other, unmentionable, neighbours

What a win, what an occasion, what a night.
We knew we had a good set of players after the Kerry League game and proved it with 4 excellent League wins after.
But "sure that's only th'oul League"
Now they've proved they're good in the Connacht Championship.
Onwards to the AI Championship and hopefully prove it there too.

Really…you just couldn't come on and say well done without taking a swipe at Mayo who had no involvement in yesterday's game….? We live rent free in some people's minds.
