Replying To foreveryoung:  "And that last time, '79, the next year, we all know where Roscommon ended up (to this day, the one that got away…Kerry/Micko RIP knew that).

So, playing top level teams in top level finals might not be a bad thing going forward.

I know that we cannot be judging it on a once-off happening from over 40 years ago.

Would love to see Roscommon nail a national title with this current team!"
Go for every game, chance might not come again.

One point win for the Minors v Sligo in Tubbercurry. Always better to win a close one than to lose it.

We beat Sligo by 1 point. Good 1st half as we led by 10 points at one stage that was cut to 8 by half time. Sligo to their credit came out all guns blazing. Goal and two pointer in a minute cut our 7 point led to one and last score of the game was another Sligo two pointer.

Win is a win but we can't repeat that 2nd half performance against a strong Galway outfit next Friday.

Maybe both teams will improve with games but looks like this year's crops are not as strong as those of the last few years?

Played great competitive football and put serious pressure on the Sligo team in the first half. 10 points up with little wind after about 27 minutes and did not score again for about 25 minutes. Sligo will have serious regrets, with their keeper dropping the ball into the net, the center back throwing the ball at the Roscommon player near the sideline rather than handing the ball back, and a couple of breaches in the second half when they had the ball. Big improvement needed for the Galway game and the team must play for the full 60 minutes.

Yes good first half for roscommon, but a big gap between last score in first half and first score in second. Sligo do.inated second half. Best player in second half for roscommon was the goalkeeper. A win away from ho.e was a good start but huge improvement needed to progress. Sligo missing their best forward conor lang.
