Replying To Overdahill:  "Lads not kid ourselves that 'The old guard' are a step up on what we saw saturday Evan couldn't make the team last year, Whelan looked to have slowed down a lot. With the exception of Cathal Mannion and possibly Cianan Fahy what we saw saturday is the team until someone comes in and earns a place. I'd be giving one or 2 other prospects who could add to the team a chance the next day and go with something like

Fahy
Ryan
Trayers
Loftus (assuming Morrissey out for a few weeks)
Mannion
Daithi
Daniels
Lee
Monahan
Neary
A. Niland
Rabbitte
Molloy

Possibly a few unavailable with Fitz, Cathal, Paddy Maccartaigh to come in if so"
A positive start for our new squad in Thurles, but to think we can handle Cork with 13men could be pushing it a bit.

Replying To SixtiesKid:  "what about letting the management select the team?
they're the ones who know what's going on."
So no point in any online discussion thread or website in fact if that's the case. Suer we're all on here for a bit of craic and a chat. Relax.

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "Neary was fine. I saw a midfield pairing in Thurles that didn't quite swing it our way, and became increasingly less convincing as the game wore on. I wonder does big Fionn McDonagh hurl? We'd need a lad his size really to lay down the law somewhere in that middle 8. Neary certainly wasn't the problem in that sector on Saturday night imo."
Fionn won a Fitz with Mary I two years ago and plays Senior with Maigh Cuillin outstnading in the air!, but dont think he got a look in for Galway. So hes right to jump at the chance to play Senior football.

Well I care about winning the League and I d rather have a settled team going full tilt to win it and then be ready and hoping to go for Championship (KK at home Rd 1)
Last year in the League 6 games and 6 different line ups with some horrible defeats and then in the Championship We were no better

True more matches would be good for us and help us get to that settled lineup

Last year in the League you stopped giving gametime to most of the younger lads after the first League game. Not sure how they were supposed to get better when they weren't even playing.

Well we need to get our team sorted for the League so that we are ready for the big one....Round 1 of Championship home v Kilkenny because with all due respect to the other Leinster teams........beat KK and Galway Will be back in another Leinster Final and the chance to win it and go straight through to the All Ireland Final.
That's my objective anyway!

Ah yes if you beat Kilkenny it would be a great help. Although you beat Kilkenny in 2019 and didnt even finish 3rd.
Surely though after that year we are proof you need to bringing younger lads in and be developing them all the time. We won Leinster, ran Tipp close in the AISF, but largely on account of Davy using the same 18 lads for nearly every game from when he came in in 2017 we ended up having some really slack years as those 18 lads ended up burnt out mentally, or injured, or just retirement age. We also ended up with no experienced/trustable subs to bring on in close games either, which cost us against Tipp in 2019, and also the LSHSF against Kilkenny in 2021 and the AIQF against Clare in 2022.

The future is good for Galway, I was impressed with the young lads last time out v Tipp.
It's like a big jigsaw We just have to put all the correct pieces in the proper place and bam Galway will click.

Perhaps stopped so as to enhance their prospects of getting better in 2026, by playing their NHL games in div1A as opposed to div1B in 2026. There's no rush rebuilding, as long as you get there in the end.

That's a great point and one I was mulling over in my own head. This cohort of Niland/ Burke/Rabbitte/ Murphy (Now with Trayers and Neary sprinkled in) have been seen by a couple of years as something we could cling to and rather than throw them in too early and get relegated last year it might have worked out alright that we are in 1a this year when they are better able to make an impact.

Or it could be complete chance!
