Replying To BarneyGrant:  "Not for Dublin. No offence to Wexford but not a chance we get caught by any of the weaker teams.

And yet Wexford can almost always raise a gallop against likes of Clare.

So Croke Park - in two minds still about surrendering Parnell to play before a mediocre football team - is league defining probably."
No harm in getting the hurlers used to Croke park but they would certainly be more comfortable in the Neller.

They should not be curtain raiser for football. Its demeaning.

One man's curtain raiser is another man's main event, a double header

I would not have a problem with it if a bigger crowd came in to support the hurlers but like so often ,it will be the die hards that come in for both games.

You were worried the last time we played in Croker Barney, but you still got over the line in 2023.

A promising weekend for the Dublin Footballers and Hurlers despite disappointing results.

Our Hurlers got off to a flyer leading 7pts to 2pts but as has been our achilles heel for so long, the concession of goals had us trailing 2-08 to 0-11 at Half Time. We were leading late in the 2nd half but once again a goal was our undoing with us losing 3-18 to 1-22. Our penalty miss didnt help our cause. But scoring 1-22 away to Clare is a good return, but as always the concession of goals killed us. We had 7 players on the scoresheet and Burke joint top scored with 11pts (but only 1pt from play), with Hayes scoring 1-03. It was definitely a game we could have won and lots to build on.

Our footballers had a pretty poor 1st half going in at halt time 1-09 to 0-06 in arrears. We got turned over about 8 times which led to Donegal scores and we were very loose at the back and in midfield.
2nd half was much better but we couldnt quite close to gap and lost out 1-20 to 0-20.
Scoring 20pts against a Jim McGuinness Donegal team is not to be sneezed at, but conceding 1-20 leaves Ger with a lot of work to do in the coming weeks. We only had 6 scorers with Con top scoring in the match with 8pts but only 1 from play. Luke scored 5pts from play after being brought on as a sub at half time.
On the 2pointers, Con scored 2 but Donegal converted 5x 2point attempts.

Which leads me to my thoughts on the 2 point frees - I would scrap them tbh and only have 2 pointers from play.

Also, GAA needs to look at this new hooter rule and handing the ball back to an opponent nonsense..

Great to have so many die hards on the Hill alongside me, on Sat night in those terrible conditions.
Some good displays in that 2nd half and lots to build on.

Next up our Hurlers are at Home to Kildare and our Footballers take the trip down to Mayo.
But as I already mentioned - promising displays by both of our teams for parts in those 2 openers.

On a sad note - sorry to hear that both Theo and Lee face a spell on the sidelines - possibly a couple of months.
Really hope we see both of them back soon playing for the Dubs. Excellent players and much needed by us.

Roll on this weekend.....

From what I've heard Theo's is a season ender (bad ankle break) and LG's is a another hamstring issue. On the latter I really hope it's something minor and we do see him back again soon. He has been through the mill with his hamstring and has had setback after setback. Would be a real asset to Ger if fit and playing (as would Theo!).

Thats terrible news. Theo is a huge loss as is Lee. I think we should nearly forget about Lee the poor lad as he is made of glass ,A great baller but always injured. If Theo was fit we could move McMahon to cb.

Absolutely heartbroken for the 2 lads.
I had really high hopes for Theo this year.
Poor Lee cant seem to get a bit of luck with that injury.
Both will be huge losses for the Dubs this season, as both would have been guaranteed starters imo.
