One of the biggest issues is anybody going to a game in Wexford park or Bellefield has to pay admission for two games when they only want to see their own club play.

"If something was half the price, would you sell twice as many?" is actually a simple way of summarising what's a big thing in marketing & economic theory. Short answer is it depends on what you're selling, but generally, it's a no. For most goods, a drop of 50% in price would be expected to lead to only a 10% to 20% increase in volume of sales. Obviously impossible to say for tickets for Wexford club matches, but personally, I'd say that if you had 1,000 people paying €15 to watch a senior hurling double-header, it's unlikely you'd have 2,000 people there instead if the price was only €7.50. You might pick up a few casual supporters all right, but bigger picture view would be that your initial €15 price point isn't pricing half or your potential customers out of the market. Well, anybody going to a double-header at any venue will pay a double-header price. It's up to themselves whether they want to get value out of that by actually watching most or all of two matches, or if they only want to see one of them. Somebody who goes to a concert but leaves early doesn't get part of their money back on the way out. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 3289 - 05/12/2025 13:00:13 2647127 Link 0 |

I understand the principles of supply, demand and equilibrium but have no idea how to apply it to Wexford gaa club games in fairness. I think we can safely say supply almost always outstrips demand when it comes to Wexford park, therefore I don't know what's driving prices. I wonder how much it's influenced by charging a fiver for kids? This is purely anecdotal but I know a lot of people who were only going to matches because kids were free and have since stopped. In fairness, the new thing of €5 for children this year was only for National Hurling League matches. I'm absolutely 100% opposed to it myself. But those prices are set by Croke Park, and Wexford GAA have nothing to do with it. Children were still free to all club matches in the county, including county finals. And since the gate receipts in the accounts only refer to club matches (i.e. Wexford GAA's own income), any difference the €5 for children made to National League matches is irrelevant. I wonder was overall league revenue up by much after introducing the 5 euro charge for children?

Hopefully both teams get that little bit of in game good fortune that can be the difference between winning and losing! Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 17689 - 06/12/2025 12:44:19 2647198 Link 0 |

The level of support for Wexford clubs in Leinster competitions is not replicated in many other counties. People in Dublin, Kilkenny, Tipp and for sure Galway don't support their clubs like Wexford do. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1517 - 06/12/2025 13:52:33 2647203 Link 1 |

Do you mean in the sense that other clubs are wishing them the best of luck or in that they are actually going to their matches and supporting them? For the record, I'm not a member of either club but I want to see the two of them win as we've enough people lamenting the quality of Wexford hurling and I want these clubs to prove the naysayers wrong ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 721 - 06/12/2025 16:52:31 2647218 Link 0 |

Absoutely incredible performance from St.Martin's. As good as display as I've seen from any Wexford representative in the white heat of battle. To show the resilience they did to twice come back from go-ahead scores from Ballyhale, especially the second goal after a scoring burst, was remarkable. They were more disciplined in the tackle and moved the ball better overall I thought. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1515 - 06/12/2025 19:57:14 2647243 Link 0 |
