To be fair to Semple Stadium they do a 5 Euro bag of chips that would feed a family!

Thanks Slayer, I'll check them out next time we are up there losing a game :-)

Agreed; it looks unfinished

Hill 16 is what still makes Croke Park unique. Do you really want it turned into just another homogenised generic stadium?

Agree with this comment. It would look nice to see the stadium the same all the way around but the hill offers something different. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6586 - 06/10/2025 13:44:10 2638664 Link 2 |
Absolutely

We love a 3/4 completed stadium in Ireland. Madness. Get Croke Park finished, never mind all the nonsense about Hill 16. logger (Wexford) - Posts: 317 - 09/10/2025 07:27:26 2639014 Link 1 |
It is finished to where it was supposed to be at the time. At the same time that was true most times major work was done on the site. No doubt more work will be done on it in the future. It's like a house at the end of the day. Won't ever be finished finished. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 17185 - 09/10/2025 10:12:01 2639033 Link 0 |
Ah of course.... realign a train line and knock down about 30 houses on Clonliffe Rd to finish it off only to add possibly less than 10k capacity which in turn would only used on days like the men's All Ireland. Makes complete sense.

Where are you going to move the Dublin/Sligo railway line to?

With less and less GAA games in Croke Park, there is not a chance of further redevelopment. It could soon get to the stage (pardon the pun) where there will be more concerts than games in HQ. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4682 - 09/10/2025 13:58:08 2639082 Link 0 |
The trainline behind the Hill makes any increase in capacity at that end impossible. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13841 - 09/10/2025 14:29:58 2639087 Link 2 |
Why couldn't the train line be moved slightly? Surely there could be something done. logger (Wexford) - Posts: 317 - 09/10/2025 14:57:59 2639091 Link 0 |
Like knock down 40 houses?

You clearly have never took the train behind Hill 16... good god

Cant belive nobody has considered this! If you look at an aerial view of the stadium there could be a possibility there to hoist it up and turn it 90 degrees! The gantrys up in Harland and Wolff aren't to busy these days i believe. I think the Stadium could then be made uniform! The lads in Sweeden that recently moved the big church a few km down the road to facililitate the expansion of the mine might be the very fellas to do it.
