I would never get rid of the Hill because it adds atmosphere, historical significance etc. etc, but I think that with all the mod-cons in the world today somebody could make a plan for a new stand to be erected above the Hill....

Sometimes when I look at Croker in all its splendour,,, i just wish the top tier went around the whole way.... I think that if they did build it the whole way around the stadium would be a real eye catcher and would also add about 10,000 seats for fans who find it extremely difficult to get tickets on ALL Ireland final day....

It wouldn't take too long to build a top tier either...probably a year or so.... might just be wishful thinking but does anybody else feel that Croke Park should be ROUNDED off nicely....sorry bout the woeful pun folks"

Hill 16 is what still makes Croke Park unique. Do you really want it turned into just another homogenised generic stadium?

Agree with this comment.

It would look nice to see the stadium the same all the way around but the hill offers something different.

It is finished to where it was supposed to be at the time.
At the same time that was true most times major work was done on the site. No doubt more work will be done on it in the future. It's like a house at the end of the day. Won't ever be finished finished.

Ah of course.... realign a train line and knock down about 30 houses on Clonliffe Rd to finish it off only to add possibly less than 10k capacity which in turn would only used on days like the men's All Ireland. Makes complete sense.

With less and less GAA games in Croke Park, there is not a chance of further redevelopment.

It could soon get to the stage (pardon the pun) where there will be more concerts than games in HQ.

The trainline behind the Hill makes any increase in capacity at that end impossible.

Before someone mentions that there is a trainline behind the Canal End, that is very different. The trainline at the Canal End was at ground level and, before the redevelopment was set a decent distance back from the old terrace. Thus enabling a build up and over the tracks. In fact the GAA have to rent the space above the tracks from Iarnród Éireann for the part of the stadium that overhangs.

This set up would be impossible for the Hill 16 end, as the trainline directly behind the back wall of the Hill, elevated to the level of the highest part of the Hill. There are houses, very close to trainline too which further complicates matters.

The Hill wasn't left in for any supposed historical or financial reasons. It was just the best option for the site. Simple really, it's amazing really that all these years later people are still going on about the ground being "unfinished".

Cant belive nobody has considered this! If you look at an aerial view of the stadium there could be a possibility there to hoist it up and turn it 90 degrees! The gantrys up in Harland and Wolff aren't to busy these days i believe. I think the Stadium could then be made uniform! The lads in Sweeden that recently moved the big church a few km down the road to facililitate the expansion of the mine might be the very fellas to do it.

Surely the GAA could look into this, it would be expensive but it im sure they'd consider all options to keep a few loopers happy?
