Nice win in challenge match in castleldaly against Clare. High scoring game and win for Westmeath. Anyone at it know of what team Westmeath had out?

Was Fionn O'Hara playing? Watched the Queens vs Marys game in the Sigerson and the commentators mentioned him as someone who wasn't released by their county to play?

Surely that was a mistake. Fionn is a great talent but the man hasn't kicked a ball in anger since 2020, expecting him to step up to intercounty is madness.

Westmeath had a strong showing today, with a young team starting and playing most of the game. Ray and Brian Geurin were notable in midfield. Emmet McMahon from Clare was impressive, scoring 5 points from play and being the standout player on the field.

QUB vs. Mary's: Mary's pulled away in the second half to secure a win. Oisin Conaty was immense, showing great speed and class. It seems like QUB might struggle to go far in the competition.

TUS Midlands vs. MU: TUS Midlands had a convincing win against MU. The fog was so thick that it was hard to see the goals from the 45, and the conditions were terrible1. Despite having multiple Meath seniors and other experienced players, MU lost.

MU vs. ATU Donegal: MU will need to win away to ATU Donegal to avoid relegation to the Trench Cup.

TUS Midlands had 6 Westmeath men starting: B Kelly, C Plunkett, S Fleming, M Whittaker, B Cooney, and Eoin Moran in goals. They were fortunate that Pearses lost the Connacht final, as key men Declan Kenny and Daniel Farrell were the standouts in the backs fOR TUS.

any decent report on the Myao vs. Westmeath 20s game, but it seems like it was a disappointing defeat for Westmeath. They do have players with the seniors, and a few tied up with CBS playing Maynooth Council on Tuesday.

You obviously weren't at the game, you just looked at the published programme.

20s were well beaten but nothing to worry about. I would say there were 8 or 9 starters to come back; they are probably a few weeks behind schedule due to the late appointment of the management team. Shane Ormsby, Seanai Bracken, Tadgh Baker, Jack Duncan, Daire O'Connor, Shane Corcoran, Ronan Murray and Matthew Thornton would all be starters I assume and none of those started the Mayo game. There are potentially a few more to come in that I'm not aware of.

Adam Keane, Tiarnan O Donovan, Rory Cole eligible again, Sean Dillon, Cian Whitney and Aodhan Curran, Shane Cully and Jack Carroll. There are more bones of a decent team

u20s more than well beaten more a hammering than anything but early days, Panel is much too large at the minute especially when playing Mayo and missing 5-6 starters. They will do very well to come out of the group and i expect them too struggle big time vs Dublin and Meath. Mayo were probably missing 5-6 due to sigerson as well and there was 20 plus points in it.

Interesting team set up by Westmeath today-with all the players retiring or gone there was a lot of young players on show. They gave a good account of themselves but obviously lack experience at senior inter county level but that will come with game time-they are good young lads and supporters need to be patient and give them their chance to improve. The new goalkeeping ploy -with the fly keeper seems to be the fashion now-Conor McCormack-who normally plays center or wing forward for Caulry played in goal yesterday and spent a lot of time in the Clare half as the extra man as did the Clare keeper in the second half. Also fair play to the ref and his officials yesterday who seemed to work well with all these new rule changes.Roll on the 26th when Louth come to Mullingar

Dominant display from Colaiste Mhuire , to make the Leinster final. Had to be patient against Maynooth's blanket defence, but won easily in second half. Scahill and Thornton stood out a mile , as expected , but they have real quality all through their team. All their players seem to be comfortable on the ball. Hopefully Moate can make it an all Westmeath final.

Fantastic group of players brought right through the grades from 1st year by a very good coaching team. Good luck to Moate in their semi

Definitely, the standout players were Thornton, Schaill, and Sean Bryen. All three lads were very capable of maintaining possession and confident on the ball. Schaill was the clear standout. Maynooth tried multiple players on him, even resorting to double-marking at one stage, but they couldn't get a grasp on him. Overall, CBS is a very solid team with a nice core group of Shamrocks players, and several of the main substitutes are Shamrocks too. The midfield is very solid with Maguire and Conlon, both being very physical and good fielders.

The only negative with CBS was that they got caught a few times early on when Maynooth went direct into the full-forward line. CBS deserves a lot of praise across both codes, having had numerous successes in the past few years across all grade levels. Westmeath GAA should really consider getting a few of those teachers involved with underage development squads, as they clearly have a good bond with the students and know them very well.

Fair play to Maynooth for giving it their all considering they had exactly 72 hours since their quarter-final, which is a very quick turnaround for those young men.

Totally dominant display by Colaiste Mhuire, their side has physicality in the likes of Masterson, Weir, Conlon and Maguire, ball winners like O' Hara, scoring forwards like Heffernan, Thornton and Meehan and the gifted Scahill, no side has come remotely close to them in this competition, their subs today had players like Aaron Connaire, Peadar Glennon, Peter Conneely, Finn Higgins and Conor Leech who is recovering from injury, none of the above lads saw action today. There's also players like Sean Hayes, Kian Loughlin and Darragh Kenny who are focusing on hurling, they could field a second team in the competition or in the B championship that would be hard beaten. Their junior and juvenile sides are also highly rated, could win Leinster titles in those grades too, credit to the coaches and school management who have deliberately recruited young coaches on the teaching staff, other schools in likes of Kilkenny and Clare have done this for years and it brings success.
