Very strange listening to the American national anthem in Brewster park on Saturday afternoon before Amhrán na bhFiann. Was this an international match or something ? Do we do the same now when London comes to town to play. Has god save the king been played for London coming to town ? I couldn't believe my ears on Saturday KeshGFC (Fermanagh) - Posts: 349 - 08/06/2026 08:53:27 2678608 Link 0 |

Was watching it live on gaa+ and I must agree it did sound very very strange. I had actually assumed that maybe this is always done when NY come to town but perhaps not. Wouldn't be in favour of it personally.

The Connacht match in Gaelic Park always has both Anthems. Mind you that doesn't happen in Ruislip! Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 628 - 08/06/2026 11:01:42 2678626 Link 0 |

I propose they play The Streets of London by Ralph Mc Tell as a compromise. Like Ireland's Call.

What's the difference between London and Fermanagh? Its the same anthem for both England and Northern Ireland. Why mention playing God save the King for London matches and not mention Derry, Tyrone, Armagh, Fermanagh. Down or Antrim? sourmilk93 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1293 - 08/06/2026 12:25:44 2678643 Link 0 |

American anthem always played when New York play home or away. I've zero issue with it. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 12122 - 08/06/2026 13:02:15 2678657 Link 0 |
