Last year we only beat them by the puck of a ball at home in the Championship, we didnt actually hit the front until injury time, and we drew in the League the year before. They are the only 2 times we have played them in League or Championship for a few years now. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 19566 - 13/05/2026 16:17:18 2672819 Link 0 |

You said you dont like the Provincial system. You also dont think the Leinster Championship should be called the Leinster Championship.

A proper team... Listen, we apologise for beating Limerick. It will never happen again. Although, stats say different for championship, you know... BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 4284 - 13/05/2026 19:02:14 2672851 Link 1 |

We've been awful. I'd say we've regressed in every metric to be honest.

Jaysus you are a sensitive soul. You beat us last year. Its not far off 1w months ago now. You need to stop celebrating it and start hurling to yere potential again. Otherwise what good was beating us to you?? Tadhg2020 (Limerick) - Posts: 403 - 13/05/2026 22:16:57 2672876 Link 0 |

Exactly, a few Cork Supporters as eell seem think all you need to do is beat Limerick. What good is it if a side do mot go and win a All Ireland.

Hurling is an ancient game, the GAA is very recent in comparison. The GAA is what we have now and seemingly you think it's all fine. Good for you.

Agree somewhat. However, beating this magnificent Limerick team should always be celebrated!

Im not even talking about All Irelands. Dublin haven't even backed up that performance since beating us so , thus far, has amounted to just a fond memory, nothing else.

Who are these people not happy ? I haven't heard anyone complain about the Munster championship. John Mullane had a bit of a whinge about the state of Waterford hurling alright but he never complained about the provincial championship. I think its only a minority of Galway fans stuck in the past that complain. Most Galway hurling people recognise that being part of Leinster is a good development for Galway hurling even if they dont like that its called the Leinster Championship. Afaik the Galway County Board applied to have their minors and u20s included. Im not sure about their seniors originally. Tadhg2020 (Limerick) - Posts: 403 - 14/05/2026 14:13:47 2672971 Link 0 |

I know the history of hurling. What's that got to do with your dislike of the Provincial system?

Backed up what way? Not even the most ardent of hurling Dublin supporters I know thought it would lead to an AI. They can still win Leinster, probably second favourites to do so with alot of Leinster hurling people, including lads in Kilkenny. The Round Robin is only a little over halfway through. We will all have a better idea how they really are after the coming weekend. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 19566 - 14/05/2026 16:15:32 2672985 Link 0 |

If Galway dont want to play in our championships any more there would be plenty of people in Leinster counties happy enough with that decision. Noone down here minded them getting a bye to the AI series in the first place.

I didn't complain about the Munster hurling championship - I was referring to the provincial system in the GAA, hurling and football. The provincial system is lopsided. It's competitive in Ulster for football, not hurling. In fact I have met Ulster people who say that it's introverted and unhealthy in the football. I have great admiration for the hurlers of Down and Antrim, for their love of the native game and how they still play it against all the odds. Munster is a hurling province not Gaelic football. As you write extensively about Munster hurling, I'll refrain. The Munster football championship is uncompetitive. New York and London are included in the Connacht football championship. I'd rather see that money and effort spent on developing hurling in the province. The Leinster football championship can be competitive. In my lifetime Leinster hurling meant KK, a few All Irelands for Wexford, then Offaly in the 80s and 90s. If Leinster was a viable hurling province Galway, Antrim and Kerry (3 different provinces) wouldn't be allowed next nor near it. Calling it the Leinster Championship is blatantly wrong. It's a lie but sure in Ireland lies are common when it involves money and power. Crashingwaves (Galway) - Posts: 336 - 14/05/2026 16:52:32 2672997 Link 0 |

I'm not speaking for 'Galway' here, whatever that means! Leinster counties? KK wanted Galway to come in and I think you know the reason. When you talk about Leinster, Viking, you mean KK and Wexford, the 'traditional' counties. Offaly shook you out of your slumber in the 80s and 90s. Then after 1998 it was basically all KK. Before Galway were invited in, you blamed all your defeats on KK, now you have Galway as a scapegoat. Nice one!
