Invisibly! We were awful in 2025 league and championship. Never made any gains from the new rules. Well tested by Leitrim and Sligo. In the Connacht final we spent too much of the first half admiring the Galway forwards kicking points. In the second half failed to score in last 15 minutes. Galway defended well when they needed to. But some analysis of that game decided we played well. We didn't, just better than the, mostly, awful stuff we played earlier in the year. Not the first time we failed to close out a game, not just in 2025. Well beaten by Cavan. We beat Tyrone and well worth that win. We're heading to 37 years since we lost our first final in 38 years. We need to stop looking at scorelines and inventing upsides but look at reality. We can look to Kerry, Armagh, Dublin, Donegal, Galway, Tryone, over the years, to look at scoring more than opponents on big days, learn some lessons rather than think we were or are at their level. Last Sunday was a nice win against very understrength Roscommon in a roomy Dr Hyde Park. A bit like the game, 'nice'. For me the big lesson was the Roscommon goal. It was tried twice before and we we prevented a goal. But Roscommon persisted and got their reward, best bit of skill on the day, the pass to Cregg and the finish. The kind of ball we should have been given to Aido, but he had to wander out around the arc looking to get on ball. We'll judge Andy's first year when we exit the championship but there's loads of room for improvement so I'm optimistic as a man can be in January! Maigh Eo Abú! I would say you were like Ralph Wiggum when Lisa Simpson broke his heart that day.

I suppose it's all academic now. Kerry won the All Ireland. As Mayo fans were told many times, it's not what you do in the way to a final but what you do in it and you must win it. Only one team is successful every year.
