Portarlington were solid. Well on top other than ten minute dip after the black card when goalkeeper got head staggers and insisted on kicking to the large Carlow lad in midfield! But steadied ship. Very composed team who will go close despite the two lads missing after county final.

Yeah bud Portarlington a good side. They gave Kilmacud a right rattle a couple of years ago. Still fancy Boden for Leinster though.

Leinster seems like it could be very hard to call. How good are Athy really or were Baltinglass very bad?

I'll believe it when I see it tbh. Connacht has 3 strong contenders. Ulster with 4 or 5 contenders.

What's that supposed to mean? Naas, Tullamore and Ardee all got closer to Cuala in Leinster than Coolera-Strandhill and Errigal Ciaran did in the All Ireland series

You make a fair comment but still close but no cigar. A knockout blow will energise the Leinster championship.

Provincial championships didn't exactly catch fire last weekend but often the way that there is a bit of a lull after the momentum of county championships, with the build up and buzz ahead of county finals.
Madden v Newbridge seems the closest to call in Ulster. Kingscourt strongest favourites to make semi finals. Kilcoo and Scotstown favourites also. Should be good battles in Ulster this weekend to ignite provincial championships.
Eire Og and Rathgormack have won a few county titles in recent years, and are familiar with rigours of Munster championship. Eire Og favourites. The winner will be confident of causing a an upset or two.
Ballina and Moycullen expected to get through to Connacht semi finals. Shamrock Gaels after beating the Connacht champions in a replay will relish the challenge.

Looking forward to seeing how Naomh Conaill get on against Scotstown. They have been formidable in Donegal for the best part of 20 years now, but have yet to crack Ulster. I'm sure it's something that they'd love to rectify, but it's not easily done. Playing the Monaghan champions away is a tricky opener for them, but if they could progress they'll fancy their chances. Scotstown should be wary, Naomh Conaill aren't beaten until they're beaten.

I was going to go for Naom Conaill and then was looking at the Scotstown team and the experience they have. It's still hard to gauge teams with the new rules....maybe it'll be a case that Scotstown have too many the wrong side of 30. Whoever wins will definitely back themselves getting to an Ulster final.

Lockjaw, there's no reason why Naomh Conaill, Loughmacrory and Madden couldn't give it a good rattle this weekend.

Yeah Scotstown look very strong when you consider they have the likes of Beggan, the Hughes brothers, O'Toole, McCarthy, Carey, McCarron etc. Naomh Conaill are missing Ciaran Thompson too. But they are fearless. They have a couple of young lads who have really flourished this year who Scotstown might not be aware of

Scotstown also have 3 or 4 young lads that Naomh Conaill may not be aware of.

Why are Ballina expected to get through? Brigids narrowly lost the AI club final only last year.
While I tipped Scotstown to beat the Donegal Champions I don't think it would be a huge shock if they didnt win.

Ha they probably do. It's a great competition. Looking forward to tuning into as much of the action as possible.
