Replying To Viking66:  "Its Davy. They will be good."
Sure but he was there last year and they were very poor

Not writing them off as such because the team we will have out tomorrow will be very inexperienced and will be the most vulnerable we have been in a long while

But they were very poor last year and they've lost a few from the panel over the winter

Replying To ExiledInWex:  "Culture is something that is partly built, partly you either have it or you don't.
But where you don't you have to work doubly hard to create hurlers. This is why Limerick had such success, their culture was fire and brimstone and emotion but hard luck stories since the 70s.
They said we need to go back to just putting more effort in coaching better hurlers than Tipp, Cork and Clare and results followed.
The effort in clubs in Wexford is good but its not out of this world either. Particularly on the part of parents, lots view GAA as a cheap babysitter where they drop at the gate for an hour, pick them up and the hurl never gets out of the boot of the car until the next session. This is where parents come in, its where schools come in, even bringing the hurls to school and as above 10 minutes of hurling twice a day in a school classroom break helps embed the culture.
The best hurlers are always the one who can do the basic skills best under pressure. Nothing cultural about that, just practice.
I don't believe any Wexford or Dublin or Cork or Waterford hurler is trying less than 100%. What I do think though is that there is a chance that the coaching in some counties for underage players is so much better that senior hurling is just refining their skills. Has the coaching in Wexford been good? Results tell the story here.
But everything revolves around underage. Success gives everybody a shot in the arm. It gives everybody hope. Never underestimate winning, but no good winning B and C All-Irelands. Need to be winning where the real acid test is."
I agree for the most part but there's technically no such thing as b and c all Irelands because not everyone takes the same approach to a/b or mixed teams.

As a matter of interest do you give the kids you coach homework?

Are coaches generally asking them to practice at home and asking for a show of hands the next week? Challenge and praise is an extremely important part of motivation, self image and confidence which is all part of winning.

Why would Wexford GAA allow a cross country schools event to happen in Ferns COE in one of the wettest months of the year?

They have Cunning back, he's a threat. Campbell is a big loss ok.

Surprised with the team tbh, didn't think Conor Hearne would be back ready to start, that Damien Reck would be back on the bench, and that the Martin's lads were going to be included on the panel for this game

A competitive debut for Ciarán O'Connor if I'm not mistaken, that's if we start as named although Keith traditionally has played the same XV as the one named

Personally thought the likes of CBD, Jack Redmond, Eoin Whelan, and Cian Byrne were all going to start, still could start and there are still five league games to play after this one so no point in reading too much into things right now

Interesting team selection for today. We look to have plenty of options on the bench. Hopefully a few of the new faces step up

Hopefully its good enough to get the win . Time to move on back the new lads and get behind the team and management .
Everyone knew it was coming that we needed to rebuild this is the real start .
Not to be dismissive but the team over last 15 years has nt exactly set the world alight bar maybe 2years maybe this crop with little expectation will flourish and give us a more consistent competive edge .
We stared relegation in the face barely 3 years ago it is time for change .
Following wexford hurlers for nearly 50 years I d say we were very rarely at top table in that time does nt mean I did nt enjoy it most years.
As long as the players with the privilege of wearing that jersey give 100% and never throw the towel in I ll be happy if we are good enough then we may just be successful.
Keep trying to improve in every way from underage club to senior county and everyone that can help out with whatever they have to offer .
Best of luck today and for the year ahead as well and to the footballers. Lets hope we see progress on both fronts

Why wouldn't they?

They ran around perimeter, not trampling.on the pitches. Imagine if they didn't allow.it the amount of giving out. More.power to em

Have they changed the ruling for pulling a helmet off?

Or was it always just the face guard?

Expectations were low coming into this season. They're even lower now.

We won't see more drama than that all year.

A win is a win at this stage of the season and on a horrible day like that. Take the points and move on to the next one.

I've no sympathy for either Davy or Antrim, between off the ball stuff and delaying the game at every possible opportunity, they got what they deserved in the end

It was a very poor performance alright

Mind you, conditions were deplorable, it was hard to see the game even from the stand, made every single possession seem like a lottery, very hard to play good ball into the forwards and very hard to win the ball, very hard to do anything full stop

Jack Redmond, David Codd, Darren Codd, and Damien Reck made a difference off the bench

Thought Simon Roche was the pick of the starters, thought Darragh Carley and Conor Foley were solid enough too

Absolutely blessed to win that, obviously it was very exciting end. Early doors but some worrying signs.

Its Wexford, never know what drama is next.

This year is about blooding players, maybe yhe next few years is. We dont deserve to have any expectations apart from staying out of Joe McDonagh.
