Yeah but regardless of where he played, it's been too easy for teams to play against our defence ever since 2023

I think you're over-estimating Richie Lawlor's height by a little bit, the others are probably that height and yes, those who are 20 or younger seem to be taller and look to have better S&C work done

But the lads you mentioned being taller leaves out the fact we've very few "skyscrapers" (Charlie Roark and Charlie Mooney would be good examples of players who are "skyscrapers"), most players don't need to be that tall but you need to have a few on the team

Also, even with those lads who are around or just above 6'0, you still have the likes of Simon Roche, Cian Byrne, Cillian Byrne, Darragh Carley, Richie Lawlor, Corey Byrne-Dunbar, David Codd, and Oisín Pepper who are no taller than 5'10

He does have a track record of success, most important thing is that he gets the best hurlers in Wexford hurling for Wexford, will still need to blood in young players during the league but it's a lot easier to blood them in when you don't have to rather than when you have to

I still think there's good young talent in the county (Enough to be competitive in Leinster aside from Galway although Munster is a completely different kettle of fish), problem is we're behind on S&C in that 21-24yo bracket and even when they do fill out, a load of them are around 5'9

Anyway, we just need some sort of boost because there's a lot of negativity in the county, hopefully Derek is the man to give us that shot in the arm"
Tadhg Deburca was one of the best defenders of that era. He has been very unlucky with injuries but a top hurler when fit. McGrath had a lot to do with that.
Waterford were a very exciting team to watch under McGrath. They were excellent at times and played a high intensity high tempo brand of hurling. They couldn't sustain it for 70+ minutes though and were heavily punished on the scoreboard during their bulls. They lost a few big games because of this but won a few too. If he matches what he did at Waterford I think you will be happy enough.
Ive met him a few times and hes an absolute gent.
