Is there a time you thought this, when your county was on the verge of a breakthrough?

For our hurlers, I thought this when we beat Kilkenny in the 2018 all Ireland quarter final. Richie Hogan goaled to put Kilkenny 2 points up and then we outscored them 0-5 to 0-1 at the end. Tom Morrisey's point was the exact moment for me. As that ball sailed over the bar, I was fairly sure that if we could do this to hurling's kingpins, we could beat anyone.

I thought Kerry were finally going to win the McDonagh Cup. An Antrim player was bizarrely awarded the winning free for falling over himself! The opportunity to force a Munster playoff was lost.

2021 All Ireland final v Tyrone. Was never confident when we faced the dubs in those finals but 2021 broke me. Really thought heading up that morning we were going to finally do it. Now I doubt if I'll ever see it.

Leinster final 2010. I thought once JP Rooney scored a goal for Louth with 7 minutes left that we would win.

1996..Ciaran Careys winning point v Clare.
the defending champions gone. I was certain after that match we'd win the all Ireland. Never thought we'd have to wait another 22 years..

Thank God to have seen these last few years.

Joe Sheridans "try" was the worst GAA officiating decision I've ever seen in my life. And umpires staring at it..

The umpire's were blameless. They don't have the power to disallow a goal . The referee never consulted them. It's a stupid rule, but that's the rule and it hasn't changed in the meantime

What a feeling that is. I haven't experienced it an awful lot, but have enjoyed it on a few occasions.

Our second half demolition of Offaly in the 96 Leinster final. I knew we'd be all Ireland champions.

Leinster semi final against Kilkenny. Rory Jacob's goal early in the second half. I felt we'd win even though it took the last puc of the game in the end.

Clare 2014 - Harry Kehoe goal in extra time. We'd arrived back from the doldrums.

Leinster final 19 - Rory o Connors run, dragged down. As soon as the penalty was awarded I knew we'd be Leinster champions.

All Ireland semi final 19 - Chin goal. I thought we'd be champions. When the whistle blew it felt like something had gone terrible wrong....... still not over it.

My recollection of the incident is that the umpire made no move to put up the green flag, probably because he knew it wasn't a legitimate goal. It appeared that he raised the flag only when told to do so by the referee.

Correct. The ref went in to them and ordered them to wave the green flag. He had no conversation with them and didn't take them aside to get their thoughts. It's all very clear when you look at it.
The umpires weren't to blame for that, it was very poorly managed by the ref. The only reason he'd be telling the umpires to give a goal without consulting then was if he was 100% sure himself that it was a goal. Which of course he couldn't have been, as everyone else knew full well the ball was never kicked over the line.
For such a crucial decision he handled it very badly unfortunately which of course cost Louth and also seemed to finish his own career as an intercounty ref.
