Think they were only being completely written off in Kerry?

To extent largest came from pundits in Kerry ie darragh but did you not see the amping in media went against Kerry all bar 10 or 15 percent picked donegal To say it was just some from their own county is not accurate Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 1144 - 03/01/2026 14:19:01 2649509 Link 0 |

Yes Legendzxix, and we will still get people on these forums complaining about attendances and football in general. Over 7000 on a bitterly cold night in the Ecclesiastical capital of Ireland. Ten times better than what I saw over the water during the week, 3 games in the premiership and they all finished 0-0.

I picked Donegal too. But also said there'd be nothing in it, as did most of those pundits you mention. Kerry were excellent on the day especially the 1st 20/25 minutes, Donegal did well to close it back up to within 4 points without their main 2 point shooters, but they left too much for themselves to do. Bottom line is none of those pundits that I read tipping Kerry said Kerry had no chance of winning. They weren't being written off. Longford's 3 in-a-row O'Byrne Cup ambitions came to an abrupt end after a coin toss loss to Westmeath! Westmeath advance to play Louth in the quarter finals on Wednesday. Longford meanwhile drop into the O'Byrne Shield. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9341 - 03/01/2026 17:53:34 2649568 Link 0 |

Westmeath hurlers had a coin toss win over Kilkenny! Noone batting an eyelid about it but the GPA in their infinite wisdom are still perturbed by the pre season competitions. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9341 - 04/01/2026 19:26:00 2649773 Link 0 |

Kerry v Cork McGrath Cup final next weekend. National Football League only around the corner. A Donegal man talking up the target on Kerry's back. All part of it. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9341 - 11/01/2026 20:04:59 2650703 Link 0 |

It'll be interesting to see if Cavan kick on from their win in Castlebar last year. It was a massive performance. Should set the bar.

Looking forward to seeing some new players this year.As a Kerryman I will be following Tomas Keneddy a good prospect. After being in croke park last Sunday the stand out player for me was in the junior game Ciaran Bogue. He is a classy footballer and one to watch for Tyrone this year. Another I ll be watching closely is Kobe Mc Donald of Mayo.I was a huge fan of his Dad. gaa.88 (Kerry) - Posts: 36 - 13/01/2026 13:04:43 2650920 Link 0 |

They'll be hoping for better this year I'm sure. Their performance in Castlebar is the standard they have to match.

Meath and Cavan would want to be pushing for promotion this year. Monaghan and Roscommon were left off the hook last year. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9341 - 13/01/2026 14:45:40 2650940 Link 0 |

You'll only have one season to look at Kobe…or however long Mayo last in it. He's off to Oz after the championship. It will be interesting to see how Mayo use him.

Looking forward to seeing Kobe in action so if only for 1 season, pity to lose such a talent from our game but I suppose you can't blame the young fella and good luck to him in Oz.
