Mayo should be put in an all ireland final and see how they get on, like in 89, 96, 97, 04, 06 12, 13, 16, I'm sure there's more but I guess we'll never know now.

You mention Donegal fell flat on their face….as a Mayo fan we are in no position to say that. Kerry won a few finals against us too where we fell flat on our faces…97, 04, 06 (embarrassing). It's not Kerry's fault or problem how the opposition performs. Ridiculous post.

Kerry were put in something of an All Ireland Ulster championship this year! Cavan, Armagh, Tyrone and Donegal. Great contests. Exactly what you'd want. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9150 - 21/08/2025 18:49:13 2633039 Link 0 |
It's a tragedy in nearly 150 years that in both codes only a hand full of the total supporters of our games have enjoyed success. It is also an indictment of the GAA and the systems that exist in an amateur sport where equality should be an aspiration. The county system while the foundation of our top level game is one of the reasons. While not suggesting the abolition of this there has to be a modification of this to level the playing field. To be glorifying a county like Cork and some others with the amount of titles they have when in fact they should have 5 teams compared to Waterford and I don't know how many compared to Leitrim. Yes Kilkenny have had success but anyone think for a second they have any interest in football is living in cuckoo land. Our games are supported in every county and built into the fabric of our society. Providing recreation for the young, year in and year out and entertainment for a major percentage of the population. Is it intransigency or smugness that this golden egg is taken for granted ? Please don't compare soccer in England as money is the influencer in professional sport as to who is the best. I wasn't surprised by the tough game in PUC. Cork had beaten Donegal the year before. Sat, Jun 21, 2025 Dublin 1 - 19 : 1 - 16 Cork Dublin earned home advantage fair and square for the preliminary quarter-finals. Home advantage is usually worth 3 points. Dublin made that count and deservedly so on that day. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9150 - 22/08/2025 08:36:14 2633075 Link 0 |

I merely gave credit where it is due. Dublin earned home advantage fair and square for the preliminary quarter-finals. A proud achievement for Dublin! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9150 - 22/08/2025 09:54:49 2633085 Link 0 |

While we all love our counties and most of us dream of seeing our county win an all Ireland title, the truth is the foundation and heartbeat of the GAA is at club level. The inter county is obviously the showpiece and where the games are played at the highest quality and level. The GAA though have shot themselves in the foot a bit with the condensed season taking the games out of the national spotlight for the entire months of August and September. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11752 - 22/08/2025 10:29:35 2633091 Link 0 |
Agree with your 1st paragraph, and that is also the reason for your second paragraph.
