Replying To Pikeman96:  "It's an age old question, isn't it? Do you carry a good free-taker who might not contribute much in general play?

I think in this case, you probably could. Coleman is surely still the best free-taker they have, and at this time of year, with pitches slowing down and total scores deteriorating, the extra he'd bring to the frees would outbalance what they'd lose in other ways.

But obviously it's not a decision for you or I to make! Will be interesting to see what they do, all the same."
Ah it's just an idea floated on a forum as far as it goes! Joe isn't useless in play, he's a good hand on him, and can score from play too. He's also plenty aggressive enough ;-)

Replying To Viking66:  "They should try work big Joe into the team somewhere. Free taking was a huge issue in the County final. They will likely score 3 or 4 more frees as a result. Maybe he'd get a couple scores from play too. Would he really cost them 3 or 4 points on account of relative lack of mobility?"
Unfortunately his conditioning looks way off currently. Very good club hurler on his day. Rory has never been a good freetaker. Technique is far too rushed. Cian Byrne missed a few the last day too. Really is an age old problem in Wexford!

Agreed about ROC, hes had more bad days on them than good in games Ive seen him taking frees. Cians had a couple days like that this year. Then other days he's been excellent. Seamus Casey usually good but seen him have off days too. Lee Chin the same. Ross Banville, Jack Redmond, Mark Byrne, Cian Byrne (Rosslare) and Joe Coleman have been the only 5 I haven't seen have a bad off day, although that's not to say they haven't had one, as Ive not seen all their games obviously. Seen Joe Coleman play many times though since he was a teenager, and he's definitely the most consistent at them if I was pushed to name 1 Wexford man.
Probably the next best Ive seen at them, who is also the best Wexford born keeper in his 20s who Ive seen playing recently, but who is playing outfield for his club, is Cian Byrne from Rosslare.

Did Joe see much game time in senior championship this year? .. not mobile enough for the game St Martins play.

Na Piarsaigh had a chance to overturn Ballygunner yesterday - their short game is poor though in comparison to Ballygunner. Na Piarsaigh defo had them rattled when they pushed up on their puck out and made them go long. Too many bad wides though and some awful missed frees. Whoever wins Leinster will fancy their chances

It's a tough start with two away games - that said I do think it's a nice start in that if we are going anywhere we should be beating Kildare and it sets us up nicely then. Would have to look at getting a win over either Kilkenny / Dublin in Round 2 and 3 .. Facing Offaly away with only 2 points on the board won't help matters. One wouldn't know what Galway team turns up in Round 5 though so you couldn't be relying on winning that to qualify.

Best of luck to st martins ,fethard and davidstown today and tomorrow.
Let's hope.they all perfirm to their best abd hopefully that will be enough .
You don't get too many chances to play on this stage So leave nothing out there and come off that field knowing you gave it your all. Hopefully they all get a bit of luck too to help the cause .

Hard luck to Fethard, Danesfort probably deserved to win overall they won more broken ball and especially in the 1st half their shooting was excellent. Cillian Byrne and Eoin Whelan played well in fairness, wasn't other lads days though.

Just out of wexford park fethard beating by 7 the speed and intensity of danesfort was something fethard hadn't faced all year, lot of fethard lads looked gassed after 40 minutes 2 fethard goals had them ahead at halftime by 2 but 1.1 in the blink of an eye at start of 2nd half by danesfort and they never looked back after that, few questionable high tackles on fethard lads might on another day of been more than yellows but they can have no excuses better fitter team won, paul murphy at centre back as very good all their backs were excellent and have forwards that punish any little error, best of luck to the rest of wexford teams

Wouldnt say it was hard luck viking to be honest thought Danesfort were much sharper and quick especially in the second half.Fethard have not met a side like them in our championship to be honest but still a good year for Fethard and well done to all

Why should referees be exempt from criticism?

Really exciting game in the Park, shame I couldn't make it in, but big shout out to clubbertv. Pitch was in good nick after the Fethard game yesterday, perfect conditions today for hurling. Few poor wides from both sides early doors, but great intensity. Barrett and Barry O'Connor big losses for the county team, Rory playing well in general play, Darren Codd also. Noone really playing badly tbh. Hope the lads from over the mountain can win it from here now.

Fair play to the Martin's, that's a statement win, Naas are a very good team so they'll have another tough game the next day but they have the ability to mix it with the big boys

Hard luck to Na Fianna, they were proper champions and went out on their shield today

Cracking game today, I feared the Martins might be under cooked going into today's game but they stepped up big time despite being hit with a couple of killer goals.

Delighted for them to be honest and hope they push on now.

Brilliant game, and absolutely delighted for the Martin's. Still an awful lot to do but they can take great confidence from that and need not fear anybody
