Martin's game was really bit of a damp squib, was disappointed in Naas, thought they'd be better than that ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 721 - 23/11/2025 16:20:02 2645771 Link 0 |

Was talking to a friend about this, and a team of Wexford lads who arent committing to Senior Intercounty right now would run the intercounty team pretty close right now. Martins were very good, great fight and intensity and speed to their hurling. Definitely the best club side to come out of Wexford since the Oulart team that won Leinster, a pretty good age profile also, and some decent depth especially when you consider Kyle Firman and Joe O Connor arent available right now. The 2nd half of the game was so poor I actually spent as much time watching the other semifinal up in the stand on clubber on the phone, which was noticeably slower paced, although more exciting in that it was close. Had Picky been fully fit to start the Laois lads might well have won it. Looking forward to a good Leinster Final now!! Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 17689 - 23/11/2025 19:50:00 2645799 Link 0 |

Yeah, Martin's knew what they had to do in the second half and they did exactly what they needed to do, was hardly exciting but don't think they'll really care at the moment Are we any the wiser on who is and isn't committing? Don't know about that. A wexford club has only ever won one All Ireland senior club hurling championship and that said team won Intermediate football in Wexford that same year. Perhaps an omen for the Martins for this year?? tearintom (Wexford) - Posts: 1598 - 23/11/2025 21:26:27 2645815 Link 0 |

A fully fit Kyle Firman would be a great addition next year if he goes back playing Senior club. I know Joe's injured. Hopefully back next year also. My post was more about what the next few years might hold for the club if everyone stays around for them.

Hopefully so! Also the Annes were the last club won a dual Senior. Martins are a good bit off winning a Senior Football title in Wexford. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 17689 - 23/11/2025 21:54:09 2645822 Link 0 |

Great wins for both Martins and Davidstown over the weekend. Didnt manage to catch the Davidstown game but made it to Wexford park yesterday. Good performance overall I really admire the Martins workout their hassling hooking and blocking is outstanding particularly in the forwards. Rory and Barry were their usual selves. Jacko's line ball was one of the best ive seen in the park. Thought Aaron Maddock had a good game. The hit on Barry O Connor should see the Naas player given a long plan there is no place for that in hurling. I hope David Codds ankle injury isnt serious he would be a big loss. Really looking forward to the Leinster final I think the Martins have what it takes to take on Ballyhale. Afinestick96 (Wexford) - Posts: 760 - 24/11/2025 09:48:27 2645849 Link 0 |

As i siad a few weeks ago, whoever won Wexford would give Leinster a serious rattle especially with two home games. Rory O' Connor alluded to it in his interview after the game - they know what the wind is like in Wexford Park and how to use it. I think Naas were very naive to play against it. The second half was woeful stuff but Martins didn't care less as they tipped along. They have zero to fear against Ballyhale and I think Croke Park will suit their style of play. I do expect them to win it. MyOhMi (Wexford) - Posts: 271 - 24/11/2025 11:42:34 2645868 Link 0 |

All in all a really positive weekend for Wexford hurling. I thought the Martin's were very professional yesterday in just going about their business. Please God it comes together for them in Croke Park. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 4058 - 24/11/2025 12:45:40 2645882 Link 0 |

Much more likely for there to be a job for him in Dublin than in Wexford, doesn't Rory work in Dublin?

Maybe going to be controversial, but here goes anyway - Surely a bit premature to say if half of that is based on winning Intermediate football? And then basically decided they were done with football rather than making a proper stab at the Leinster championships in both codes? Not that I'm criticising them for that decision - they did what they felt was right for them, and I genuinely wish them well in the hurling final. I'd venture that they're not even the best dual club in Wexford right now, never mind ever. I'd actually propose Shels as the top dual club right now, in that they're in the top three or four contenders for the senior title in both codes each year. Its the worst thing you can do on a hurling pitch, especially against an unsuspecting victim with no way of defending himself. Pure cowardly. Should be a year ban for those offences. Was there a few words after the game? Some Naas head didnt look too happy.

Would have to agree - it's a cheap cheap shot and one that should be dealt with a lot more harshly instead of the usual striking with the hurl two match offence. it's only a matter of time before someone is dealt a serious injury

Would be great if a local business man could offer Barry an attractive job to entice him to stay but as he said himself on the Wexford Hurling Pod he has a life in Sydney that he loves too

Here Tara Rocks going it alone confirmed at recent AGM, adult and underage. Its a big risk but wish them well. Presume they will slot in Junior Football and Junior A hurling. Kilanerin would have enough for underage teams I'm sure. Tara Rocks will need to work hard to get the underage structure going. alwaysasub (Wexford) - Posts: 568 - 24/11/2025 15:36:14 2645925 Link 0 |

I heard recently his partner is a professional volleyball player in Oz, so I would imagine that is playing a big part in his decision to live in Oz for the foreseeable.

Absolutely, you could ruin a fella for life. It always amazes me how theres not more made of it, especially by the injured party's teammates.
