Martin's game was really bit of a damp squib, was disappointed in Naas, thought they'd be better than that Martin's had a very strong first half, played with a very strong wind but the lead they had built up was substantial all the same, saw the game out comfortably in the end Martin's found it a lot easier to create scores than Naas who weren't able to generate much from open play, work-rate and physicality of the Martin's forwards was also very impressive, put the Naas defence under awful pressure whenever they tried to work the ball out from the back Think Mikey Coleman is in great form, would he be worth a go in the senior panel? Bit small but great work rate and has been scoring for fun recently I really don't think hurling down here is as bad as people make it out to be, big problem for us as a county is not that we don't have the talent but that the talent either don't want to play for us or they don't perform to their absolute best in a Wexford jersey Martin's showed today that there's no reason why a Wexford team can't physically win dirty ball and primary possession, also showed that there's no reason why we can't work our socks off either and play with intensity ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 721 - 23/11/2025 16:20:02 2645771 Link

Definitely the best club side to come out of Wexford since the Oulart team that won Leinster, a pretty good age profile also, and some decent depth especially when you consider Kyle Firman and Joe O Connor arent available right now. The 2nd half of the game was so poor I actually spent as much time watching the other semifinal up in the stand on clubber on the phone, which was noticeably slower paced, although more exciting in that it was close. Yeah, Martin's knew what they had to do in the second half and they did exactly what they needed to do, was hardly exciting but don't think they'll really care at the moment Are we any the wiser on who is and isn't committing? A wexford club has only ever won one All Ireland senior club hurling championship and that said team won Intermediate football in Wexford that same year. I know Joe's injured. Hopefully back next year also. My post was more about what the next few years might hold for the club if everyone stays around for them. Great wins for both Martins and Davidstown over the weekend. Didnt manage to catch the Davidstown game but made it to Wexford park yesterday. Good performance overall I really admire the Martins workout their hassling hooking and blocking is outstanding particularly in the forwards. Rory and Barry were their usual selves. Jacko's line ball was one of the best ive seen in the park. Thought Aaron Maddock had a good game. The hit on Barry O Connor should see the Naas player given a long plan there is no place for that in hurling. I hope David Codds ankle injury isnt serious he would be a big loss. Really looking forward to the Leinster final I think the Martins have what it takes to take on Ballyhale. Well Done to Davidstown on a great win away to Barrow Rangers. Kilkenny champions are always strong so Davidstown will take great confidence into the Leinster final they play Clane who are Kildare intermediate champions. As i siad a few weeks ago, whoever won Wexford would give Leinster a serious rattle especially with two home games. Rory O' Connor alluded to it in his interview after the game - they know what the wind is like in Wexford Park and how to use it. I think Naas were very naive to play against it. The second half was woeful stuff but Martins didn't care less as they tipped along. They have zero to fear against Ballyhale and I think Croke Park will suit their style of play. I do expect them to win it. That was a superb win for Davidstown also especially away to Kilkenny opposition - I hope they see it out now agains Clane in the final. Rathnure through to meet Oulart in U21 premier final also - think final is down for next Sunday .. All in all a really positive weekend for Wexford hurling. I thought the Martin's were very professional yesterday in just going about their business. Please God it comes together for them in Croke Park. In terms of davidstown that's a massive result. It would be unreal to get two Leinster club champions out of it. Oulart won leinster 10 year ago don't play football" Maybe going to be controversial, but here goes anyway - Surely a bit premature to say if half of that is based on winning Intermediate football? And then basically decided they were done with football rather than making a proper stab at the Leinster championships in both codes? Not that I'm criticising them for that decision - they did what they felt was right for them, and I genuinely wish them well in the hurling final. I'd venture that they're not even the best dual club in Wexford right now, never mind ever. I'd actually propose Shels as the top dual club right now, in that they're in the top three or four contenders for the senior title in both codes each year. Here Tara Rocks going it alone confirmed at recent AGM, adult and underage. Its a big risk but wish them well. Presume they will slot in Junior Football and Junior A hurling.
