One bad result against Meath didnt make them a bad team but also one great result against Armagh doesnt make them All Ireland winners. I still feel they are vulnerable trimmer (Meath) - Posts: 553 - 30/06/2025 13:43:29 2622640 Link 0 |
Kerry were phenomenal in that 2nd half and I think they stand out as the strongest team left, they must be clear favourites at this point for the All Ireland. I really can't see this Tyrone team beating them, I think Tyrone need another year or two. they aren't quite there yet, but are going in the right direction. Aye, poor Tyrone, U20 All Ireland champions,in the Minor All Ireland final and Seniors in the All Ireland semifinal. Poor Tyrone alright.

Kerry were phenomenal in that 15 minute period where they destroyed the Armagh kickout and outscored Armagh 0-14 to no score. Before that spell Armagh was leading by 5 points and after the spell it was 0-5 each in scoring. The best 35 minute of football at the weekend was by your own Donegal in that 2nd half and all the more impressive it came off the back of a 6 day turnaround against a rest Monaghan who had only played 4 championship games in total. I fancy a Donegal v Kerry final now and Jim and co will not allow such spells as Kerry had against Armagh on kick outs. A real 50/50 if it is the final. I certainly wouldn't be writing Tyrone off. Very good experienced team with an astute manager. Kerry wont be afforded the time and space they got yesterday. 4 teams in the semi finals on merit. I don't think any team can be written off. Scenicparish (Donegal) - Posts: 652 - 30/06/2025 17:07:32 2622710 Link 1 |
On an aside. I just want to comment on the Croke park pitch. While players always say the surface and bounce is completely different to other pitches,I wonder does the dew from the rsin stay on the surface longer? CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 4001 - 30/06/2025 17:27:52 2622717 Link 0 |
While there is alot of negativity in the country and the world I just want to comment on the Armagh fans and the colour and sportsmanship they bring to croker. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 4001 - 30/06/2025 17:33:00 2622718 Link 0 |
Donegal and Kerry shooting very impressive this weekend reach close to that level in their semi finals and they won't be beaten. Galway,Meath,Armagh,Tyrone average and Monaghan,Dublin poor. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3697 - 30/06/2025 17:42:55 2622723 Link 0 |
Dominating the opposition's kick-out for a sustained period, say even winning 5 successive opposition kick-outs really causes mayhem under the new rules. In the old system the ball winner would be fouled, the free taker obstructed/delayed and everyone would then be back behind the ball. Now with the tap and go and less defenders the defending team are really vulnerable when a series of their own kick-outs go against them. I agree Kerry and Donegal are favourites but Tyrone and Meath certainly have the personnel to make things uncomfortable for Ryan and Patton. sligo joe (Dublin) - Posts: 963 - 30/06/2025 18:28:17 2622730 Link 0 |
Last week Kerry were outsiders and many here giving us no chance as we had nt played div 1 teams. Now you say we favourites because we "lightly raced " in your words. Its easy change the narrative to suit. If a team wins All Ireland after hard games its because they eere nt "lighly raced". The bookies have Donegal as favourites. Did Kerry play their All Ireland v Armagh?? ORIELMAN85 (Monaghan) - Posts: 685 - 30/06/2025 20:04:59 2622751 Link 1 |
Beat a Galway on the way out so no surprise there? Will give Donegal a stiff test and if after 60 minutes are still in the game Meath have the forwards to kick points all day but I think there Donegal backs will be a lot harder to score against. Donegal by 2 or 3 points

Dont think so, Your own crowd was giving out last year that it was in Athletic grounds, Most minor managers and players would prefer it before Senior final

Is Kerrys performance being a little overblown? Armagh had a complete systems failure on thier kickouts for 15 minites and refused to change it up. Then they were very passive and combined with their zonal defensive style meant it was effectively 15 mins of shooting practice. Don't get me wrong Kerry were impressive in their work rate rate around the middle and the efficiency in their shooting was brilliant but the statements by people saying they have never seen anything like it, the greatest 15 minutes ever and no other team would live with it are a bit silly imo. Dublin's 15 min spell against mayo in 2019 would be one performance that I would say was levels about it for example. Dublin were cutting through Mayo, bursting through their men, creating goal chances, etc, Kerry capitalised on Armagh's kickout meltdown and kicked points from distance while the Armagh defenders stood off them. Did I read somewhere that all Donegal's wides came from Murphy? High time he was dropped :) Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12440 - 01/07/2025 10:46:57 2622832 Link 0 |
Seen a lot of long frees missed at the weekend, seems harder to score them in Croker or maybe the damp conditions underfoot didn't help, think your right though, Murphy could be dropped the next day! one things for sure we can't afford another first half like we played against Monaghan or Meath will be out of sight by halftime. I wasnt and many others wern't. Would have been a lot more giving out if 10,000 couldnt get tickets to be the curtain raiser to Dublin/Kerry.
