I thought Mayo v Leitrim and more so Mayo v Sligo were good games. The resultS might have gone as expected but they were decent games. Ross v Galway was the only real disappointment in Connacht IMO.

Thanks for your answers to my queries. A draw would certainly be a fairer way to decide who plays who in the playoffs for a quarter final spot. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 910 - 06/05/2025 21:45:26 2607239 Link 1 |
When are the matches due to be confirmed for May 17/18th? (i.e times & venues) As a travelling Dub we've booked a hotel in Galway for Saturday 17th, given that the hurlers play Kilkenny on Sunday 18th Deegoyaboll1x (Dublin) - Posts: 7 - 06/05/2025 22:46:46 2607245 Link 0 |
I think the Round 1 games are usually split over two Saturdays. Connacht and Munster playing on the first weekend. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8804 - 07/05/2025 07:53:37 2607258 Link 0 |
Hearing it will be 5.30 Saturday but who knows. Makes having draw last Wednesday all the more nonsense

The problem is Galway are at home to Antrim at 13:30 on Saturday The SUnday is all munster hurling on TV RTE will want Galway v Dublin on TV on saturday Galway wont want a double header as Dublin match will be a sell out without hurling. Galway might have to open salthill for hurling. Close it and turf everyone out - then reopen for Dublin match at 7 tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1390 - 07/05/2025 12:52:45 2607339 Link 0 |
That would be pure greed. Surely they could just move hurling back to 3:30 and play Dublin at 5:30 as part of double header. God the greed would make ya sick shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 331 - 07/05/2025 13:35:54 2607352 Link 0 |
RTE don't pick and choose games anymore. GAA will give them some options after they pick their own for GAA+.

Thanks. Was thinking that or 7 pm throw in. Hopefully the powers that be make a right decision, whenever they decide to make it

think they could have kept the group stage and only allow top 2 through to QFs. mesgegra77 (Kildare) - Posts: 7 - 08/05/2025 14:42:30 2607617 Link 0 |
I'd agree, but the groups would have to be seeded properly in that case. As it stands, two groups are very difficult and two are much softer. 2 from 4 in a group of Galway, Armagh/Donegal, Dublin and Derry, would be very unfair compared to the group with Clare, Down, Louth/Meath, and Monaghan. THey made the right decisions - Pearse stadium will be packed to the rafters. If your going across to it - dont drive and bring your walking shoes. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1390 - 08/05/2025 15:24:10 2607626 Link 0 |

Sad carry on in the Hill yesterday by a small minority of supporters who just can't go and enjoy the occasion, awful to see. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 2326 - 12/05/2025 13:28:11 2608818 Link 1 |
These groups are all very unpredictable, hard to determine who will go straight though to the Quarter finals, Kerry is the only one I would expect to definitely top their group. Outside of that, Its wide open. Group 1: Donegal, Mayo, Tyrone, Cavan. Group 2: Kerry, Meath, Roscommon, Cork. Group 3: Louth, Clare, Monaghan, Down. Group 4: Galway, Armagh, Dublin, Derry. It didnt look good at all to be honest. Someone, boy or girl, will end up seriously injured one day. ;o( Always a few from Every county at this nonsense. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4250 - 12/05/2025 13:38:16 2608825 Link 0 |
Just for fun - in my AILC, there'd be some great group crossover ties there. I could imagine all 4 advancing from Group 4 and none from Group 3 to the AIC Sam playoffs (from the final 12-game, 16-team table). omahant (USA) - Posts: 3244 - 12/05/2025 13:56:34 2608840 Link 0 |
