How do people see matches going at all grades this weekend? CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2617 - 02/10/2025 14:10:49 2638260 Link 0 |

can only comment on senior Really interested to see how Doon go. They were unlucky to not see off Ballygunner last year and at start of the year looked like they were going to kick on this year but TBH they have been bang average this year. Lucky to beat Ballybrown in the group stages. Adam English has been unplayable at times and at times has drifted completely out of games. Ballybrown look like a team that is good enough to win, but sometimes lack a little bit of belief (poor wides for example). And Aidan O Connor might be the standout player so far in the championship. Doon have to be favourites but I wouldnt be surprised if Ballybrown turn them over. Doon by 3 NaP have looked the best team so far this year but you just know Kilmallock will give them a right battle. They have had a fair few injuries and not sure who they will have back, while NaP seem to have most of their county players back and fit (Peter Casey in particular). Na. Piarsaigh by 5. I think they are ticking along nicely and won't be beat. Doon by 2. I think Ballybrown will give them one hell of a game but Doon will just shade it. Bouncers by 6. Think they are the best team so far and they are cute and can mix it. Blackrock by 2. This could be the game of the weekend. There is never too much between these neighbours but the slower wet ground might suit the Rockies Glenroe by 3. Glenroe have played quite well this year and have been a bit unlucky in a couple of games. While I think South Liberties are quite a poor side Bruree and Murroe to both win. Both these sides are playing really well and will have 2 much for their opponents Limerick2018 (Limerick) - Posts: 85 - 02/10/2025 20:55:41 2638302 Link 0 |

As expected the 2 favourites in senior advanced to the final.na piar did their work early and have players in a rich vein of form..Peter Casey looks as if he's back to his best and Adrian breen having his best year in a long time, his scoring is exceptional..hardest thing seems to be the best starting 15. I thought Na Piarsaigh played very well against Kilmallock. In the earlier rounds of the championship I questioned if some of their forwards who have been around for a long long time had the legs to keep going. I think they answered me on Sunday. There movement into space, off the ball running and how they controlled the ball in difficult surface conditions was impressive. I do think Kilmallock played into their hands a bit tactically. How did they not drop back some of the forwards into defence against the wind? Kilmallock's only game plan with the wind, seemed to be to try and find the Bull. When the Bull got the ball he did damage, but he was double and triple marked at times. Peter Casey once again proved his class and dictated a lot of the play. As regards Doon and Ballybrown, Aidan O'Connor was excellent for Ballybrown but unfortunately I felt he had no back up in the forwards on Sunday. Some of the Ballybrown forwards who were very prolific in the scoring goals all year, couldn't hit the ball out of their own way on Sunday. The wind and ground conditions really seemed to affect them more than Doon. Doon did what they have done all year, nothing spectacular for 45 minutes just, tip along stay in the game, and produce 10-15 minutes of class to win the match. Adam English or Darragh O'Donovan didn't sparkle but the rest of the Doon team really stepped up when needed. It should make for a good final which really could still go either way. Either team looks well capable of having a crack off the Munster Club LimerickandProud (Limerick) - Posts: 218 - 08/10/2025 12:18:47 2638930 Link 0 |

Glad to read the last paragraph of your post there. Winning the Munster and possibly the all Ireland club championship would be a big step forward for Limerick hurling. Na Piarsiagh's win in 2016 was a contributing factor to Limerick's 2018 win. At this stage I'd just about go for Doon to win the county final based on how they've closed out games especially the semi final. But as you mention, Peter Casey's form as well as the varied scoring from Na Piarsiagh might peak at just the right time. Looking forward to a great final. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6627 - 08/10/2025 18:18:23 2638982 Link 0 |

Are there many new lads being identified as candidates for the senior county team now that the senior championships are closing out? From what I am reading, Aidan O'Connor took a big step up this year and is going to be hard to keep off the first 15 next year. How are other fellas going? Anyone new that looks like they could challenge for a place in the first 15 or extended panel? How about Langan from Monaleen in the backs? stpats1886 (Limerick) - Posts: 41 - 08/10/2025 22:09:33 2639003 Link 0 |

I don't know if we have unearthed any obvious new talent that has to be in the first 15. You are right about Aidan O'Connor though. He has done himself no harm at all. Same could be said for the Bull. We did learn that on current form, we have some players with a lot of work to do over the winter. I'm particularly concerned about the Patrickswell contingent. They look like they may need a break and perhaps to skip the League to get over any niggles or issues because on form they are miles off their own high standards. Declan Hannon deserves at least a post and probably a thread to himself Yadse (Limerick) - Posts: 213 - 22/10/2025 12:06:08 2641078 Link 0 |

Declan leaves the stage with a legacy that will be remembered forever. A player who didn't rely on fitness, power and pace, it was all about hurling intelligence, creativity, skill and a calmness under the greatest pressure. I have no doubt he was a calm and reassuring voice in the storm of the Limerick dressing room and a voice of sense amongst some lunatics :) a great choice for captain for all those years. Absolutely. A great man, great player, great role model. Hopefully he takes up coaching now and stays involved in the game.

Declan was a credit to all in limerick..he was there for the very bad days and turned into an outstanding leader of a team we will never again see the likes of..what really set him aside was he was a complete gentleman and carried himself brilliantly. An absolute colossus of a player and captain. What service he has given to Limerick. By all accounts he's also an absolute gentleman. The game will be the lesser without him.... bloodandbandage (Cork) - Posts: 462 - 24/10/2025 13:07:09 2641378 Link 1 |

One of the modern greats, super hurler who consistently done the simple things right, a great leader. He was a great ambassador for his county and the game in general. Sad to see him call it a day. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 2611 - 24/10/2025 19:07:35 2641415 Link 0 |
