Maybe Carlow wouldn't beat Waterford but they should still get the chance. If we are organising championship based on predictive results then there's no point in playing any matches. carlovia (None) - Posts: 1529 - 13/02/2025 22:27:22 2590901 Link 0 |
I do believe it is Tipp finished last in Munster last year and that is who would be involved if there was a play off. The conversation here is discussed as if it was Waterford. One of the reasons why the elite teams stay elite as well as being strong is because the supporters of the lower teams spend more time degrading teams at their level. Personally I would get more satisfaction when any of us lesser counties take out one of the big guys. Carlow were within a score of that last year. If beating us in the league is a booster for greater things I am delighted for them.

You said I kept repeating it and the only time, one and only time I mentioned it was in reference to the significance of Carlow result with Kilkenny in a championship game. In fact straight off I was annoyed by the commentator on wlrfm kept repeating we have 9 changes today. Keep up the good work of supporting your county.

Good win for Laois away to Westmeath. Carlow and Laois look the early favourites to make the McDonagh final. Westmeath, Down and Kildare will be looking to challenge, as will Kerry as well of course. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8535 - 17/02/2025 02:29:47 2591479 Link 0 |
I would put Carlow ahead of Laois. Be key game in both league and Joe.

Kerry travel to Donegal. I suppose an interesting aspect of the new league. Should be a good test for Donegal to take on the three time McDonagh finalists who are now probably looking at retaining McDonagh status this summer. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8535 - 21/02/2025 02:55:47 2592197 Link 0 |
Was listening to chap on RnaG other day talking about hurling in Donegal. Quite remarkable really. This is highest grade they've ever played. Seems to be taking off. Still the small number of core clubs but being played now in football only clubs at underage. I hadn't even realised they were in 2. Decent results so far but tough games against Kerry and Kildare, A win against Derry would keep them up maybe. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3427 - 21/02/2025 23:36:56 2592365 Link 0 |
Absolutely. Fair play to them.

Fine win for Offaly over Dublin. They have a great chance of promotion to 1A now. Gaillimh_Abu (Galway) - Posts: 1022 - 22/02/2025 20:36:29 2592508 Link 0 |
Yep. What price a Carlow Offaly 1-2 at the start of the season?

Good win for Tipp in an open exciting game. Not sure it will mean too much come championship as Cork have so many to come back. But a good watch all the same. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 14832 - 22/02/2025 21:44:30 2592523 Link 0 |
Waterford losing to Carlow and Dublin losing to Offaly are not results that were expected in this new "Division 1"-B. "Division 1"-B is supposed to be a mere matter of taking your medicine for one year before taking your rightful place in "Division 1"-A. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8535 - 23/02/2025 06:58:37 2592551 Link 1 |
Carlow deserved their win. Waterford have moved up through the gears since. Big names returning and intensity greater against Antrim. Davy going to get them relegated like he did with us last year. They are better than that. Next weeks game a big one.

They have just beaten Kerry, which is a major upset - fair play to them. On this form, they should be strong contenders for the Christy Ring cup.

Kerry's McDonagh Cup status is looking precarious again. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8535 - 23/02/2025 15:59:13 2592623 Link 0 |
Is Mackessy's loss a factor? But a county like Kerry with an 8 team Senior Championship should be able to deal with the loss of any one player. Are there more 'taking time out'? I don't think League status has anything to do with the Cup competitions. But I know coming of a bad or mixed league isn't great preparation. There was an article a few weeks ago that 20 players have left the Kerry panel from 2022 since they lost the Joe McDonagh final to Antrim by a point in 2022, so something has definitely gone wrong down there. Looking at the team they had out v Donegal, some of them lads don't even start for their senior clubs. Not sure Tweek Griffin was the right choice of manager for Kerry, no experience. Some boost for Donegal hurling, will have them great confidence going into the Christy ring cup, I think the two up and two down is a great idea in the league. Gives these counties a chance to turn over a bigger county. Past hurler (None) - Posts: 860 - 23/02/2025 21:07:52 2592752 Link 0 |
