Replying To UTW2024:  "Obviously not a sole Gallagher issue but McKinless' comments this week definitely show that the team still seem like they're not fully over it, and the fact that at one stage it was sorted that he would be returning. It's a mystery as to what happened after the league final as they were an entirely different team after that. Depth is a massive too like looking at Donegal who brought Gallen off the bench and what we brought in its two worlds apart. Saving grace is a special U20 group coming up that have two minor all Irelands under their belt, didn't fully buy into the need a Derry man to manage the team but I think we're at a point now where it may need to happen as that emotional investment which Gallagher had in abundance is missing"
I was feeling sorry for mal mcmullen on the donegal gaa pod. He was very down in the dumps. Though say if the keepers swapped yesterday it would have made some difference to derry. Derry also have 5/6 weeks now to get good order on themselves. 2 years ago donegal were missing players, relegated from division 1 got beat by down in ulster and were overall in a worse shape than derry are. I went down to Clare in the round robin with no confidence but in fairness they had put the shoulder to the wheel and won the game then beat monaghan and at least stopped the rot. There were foundations there for mcguinness coming back because the players attitude was good. Derry have plenty talent and opportunity to drive on in the round robin if they put the work in for this 5/6 period.

That under 20 team do look like a special group. They are walloping everyone so far. They beat monaghan by 17 points last week and monaghan were in the minor all ireland two years a go. And even last year they should have beaten tyrone in the Ulster final but for a last minute goal in et. I know their manager tried the seniors before but if he navigates the 20s to all irelands there would seem a natural progression again to the senior team. And even if that doesn't work the talent alone should make the future bright.

Paddy Tally didn't have much time to prepare this team for this season, we could have beat Kerry, Galway and Donegal in the league, If Paddy is given time, he will tighten things up at the back and try to calibrate things.
Kick-outs and bench were the big difference yesterday, Outfield I didn't think there was much between the teams for long parts of the game. Derry still have an tight team, just about a year ago we were All Ireland contenders and that was no mistake, with a bit of a break now and a few returning U20's likely to inject energy, I wouldn't write Derry off yet..

I'm not sure what Gareth McKindless was thinking when he participated in that BBC interview with Thomas Niblock and Oisin McConville, or indeed what they were playing at. And Rory Gallagher is supposedly taking the GAA to court now, perhaps such a high profile court case is what is needed to bring everything out into the open.

Niblock seems a bit too fond of the limelight. I used to love GAA Social pod but think too many of them pods now are milking some sort of tragedy and are borderline clickbait.

In my opinion Derry need to forget about RG and focus on getting things right from within the squad,
I think bringing RG back would be toxic for Derry, they may get behind Tally and put the shoulder to the wheel,
still big potential in Derry when they get a few injured lads back and some youth injected,
time to lift the heads and forget about the past in my opinion anyway.

for Derry fans, is McFaul one of your best options or just picked on name? He has all the tools but never been impressed with him really

The Derry County board have moved on, but its clear some players feel robbed, because he took Derry to back to back Ulster titles and we were on course to challenge for the All Ireland. Then it all collapsed, while last year we won a Division 1 league title, our threat as challengers to the All Ireland had ran aground. We missed out on Malachy O'Rourke,
who I think would have taken us to the All Ireland, now he has turned to the darkside and Paddy Tally is a highly capable man who has been around the whole Island and seen how its done everywhere. I support Paddy and think Derry fans will be rewarded if we give him the benefit of doubt.
