Replying To FoolsGold:  "Declan Bonner is supposedly in the frame but still involved at club level."
Shows you too this time last year and through the league all the talk was about Derry and the Glen boys winning the All Ireland club, favs in some peoples books for Sam, top manager in to take them to the Holy Grail.
Now Derry are in disarray much like we were in 2023, I think they just need to steady the ship and get a competent manager in place and Declan Bonner would certainly fit that bill.
I think they should forget about RG, that ship has sailed.

Which makes you wonder why they haven't appointed Enda Muldoon. Someone is pushing hard for RG to be involved. He's split milk at this stage and they should move on.

This time last year Mickey Harte and Gavin Devlin were in and there was great excitement across the country.
Who's the Derry fans choice?

The players are the ones still pushing for RG.

What do you think of Paddy Tally getting the job? He has plenty of experience anyway that's for sure.
Can't wait for the league to get started again, seeing the new rules that come in play out will be very interesting, hope it all improves the game.

Looks like a decent appointment, surprised Kerry are letting him go even though they have recently added Cian O'Neill to their management team from Galway.

Four months to appoint a manager has showed the Derry county board to be fairly incompetent.

They can hardly stop him, amateur sport no legal contracts etc.

Is it confirmed or is there another embarrassing twist

Looks like Paddy Tally with Enda and others..
Prior to MH appt last year after Derry's second Ulster and the performance v Kerry in the AISF everybody I know from around the country were talking about Derry and their exciting sometimes brilliant and at other times devastating style of football.
On top of this given our phoenix like rise from Div 4 to Div 1 in 4 years most genuine gaa people had a genuine desire to see Derry doing well.
The RG debacle has soured a lot of this goodwill and the monumental failure to attract and secure a forward looking progressive coaching team by the DCB since July has everybody talking about us again but for all the wrong reasons.
Paddy Tally is a Tyrone man and unlike Brolly I have no problem with that.
We have previous with this man He is an honest smart coach and he knows Derry football He sees the undoubted potential in the current squad and he's well aware of our winning minors in the background
If and when the DCB appoint him...if they also announce that they 'got the man they always wanted' then I'm getting myself a Tyrone shirt...
By the time this is moderated and put up...Tally may well have let the world know that nobody from the DCB had even asked him...

Half time in Derry match at home. Derry 0-4 - Galway 1-10. Can't blame Mickey Harte on this show.

Great stuff. Might turn their fortunes around.

Umpires had a big say tonight. Derry had a wide given as a point and Galway had a point given as a wide but this happens in all matches.

Poor first half with Shane Walsh doing the damage unchecked on that left flank, I would have expected a man of Paddy Tally's defensive nature to have addressed that sooner. We finally applied some pressure in the 2nd half with a higher press on the Galway kickouts. Wasted opportunity for 2 points, now we're going to be cutting it tight to stay up with very tough matches still to come.

As it stands, we're in a relegation dogfight with Tyrone and Mayo.

Where do we go next? Been cliched to the maximum but still unbelievable seeing how much the county team has collapsed without Gallagher, barely even competitive at any stage yesterday, 6 weeks now without a game morale couldn't be lower around the county team

Where do we go now? Morale couldn't be lower, team has completely collapsed without Gallagher, absolutely brutal yesterday

Is that the same team that won a Division 1 National League without your mate Gallagher?

Gallagher no doubt a loss but ye were absolutely flying when Harte first took over and won the league. Is it a perfect storm of a few different issues?

Obviously not a sole Gallagher issue but McKinless' comments this week definitely show that the team still seem like they're not fully over it, and the fact that at one stage it was sorted that he would be returning. It's a mystery as to what happened after the league final as they were an entirely different team after that. Depth is a massive too like looking at Donegal who brought Gallen off the bench and what we brought in its two worlds apart. Saving grace is a special U20 group coming up that have two minor all Irelands under their belt, didn't fully buy into the need a Derry man to manage the team but I think we're at a point now where it may need to happen as that emotional investment which Gallagher had in abundance is missing

Aye it was and obviously the beginning under Harte was exceptional but after the Donegal game they just were not the same team. Even Meenagh won the Ulster final and had us in a situation where we should have beat Kerry and been in the 23 Final, like we'd Kerry beat and lost about 3 kick outs in a row late on and that was that. Don't look like a team at all that could compete at that level now, messed about trying to get Gallagher back and missed the opportunity to get O'Rourke in (that was a goer before Tyrone emerged) and now the two counties are in opposite trajectories
