Curaçao qualified too. Fair play to them. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 8369 - 19/11/2025 11:31:03 2645264 Link 0 |

Probably just pettiness on my part but I've no time for the Scots fans at all. Booing everyone and everything (especially celtic players but that's another story) and the "look at us in our tartan, aren't we mad crack altogether". Final straw for me was the rousing boos and jeers Amhran na bhfiann received in Hampden a few years back.

England defeats are getting fewer though, and farther between. They seem to be oozing with talent at the moment. Reaching two euro finals on the bounce is new territory for England. They've upped their level in the last 3-6 years imo.

Fully agree with you, imagine a 3rd Division team in the GAA qualifying for the final stages of the All Ireland football group stages by winning the Tailteann Cup. Poor.

I'd agree with that. Hard to believe we beat them 3 0 a few years ago

Aye and the biggest bluffers going about how much they hate the English and all. They literally had a vote for their own independence but their own tightness wouldn't allow them to do it! Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 10138 - 19/11/2025 13:51:36 2645292 Link 3 |

"look at us in our tartan, aren't we mad crack altogether" Brilliant! That gave me a good auld chuckle. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 8369 - 19/11/2025 14:33:47 2645302 Link 1 |

Tuchel is doing well with them. He's content to bruise a few egos and leave some,so called, superstars, unhappy on the bench. He doesn't want a team that picks itself and be over-reliant on Bellingham and Kane.

For all the Scots talk about hating the English when they had a chance to vote for their independence enough of them wouldn't take it, they thought they might be a few bob worse off and they were too scared to break the umbilical cord to London, I know big Celtic fans over there who wouldn't vote for Scottish independence yet they go around with tricolours and sing Ra songs and profess to hate all things English, total hypocrites imo.

Isn't that their entire history in a sentence? Even going back to before they had a vote? They very rarely stood together against the English.

They're very consistent now, but even in their recent good runs, they've had a fair bit of fortune with the draw and some results. They've generally lost whenever they came up against a good team. On their run in WC 2018, they lost twice to Belgium and then to Croatia. In Euro 2020 (2021), they ended up on the much softer side of the draw again, got Ukraine in the quarters, Denmark in the semi-final and a soft penalty to win that. In WC 2022, they were put out by France in the quarters. In the last Euros they were very fortunate to get past Slovakia in the round of 16, edged past the Swiss on penalties and probably played their best match in beating the Dutch after extra-time. Spain were too good for them in the final. They are generally beating the teams they should be beating, and that can get you a long way in tournament football.
