It's the hope that kills you as they say! I just hope we can deliver another performance on Sunday afternoon, it's a pretty short turnaround. A quick shout out to my own county man Seamus, what a servant he is. 37 and still going to the final whistle last night. It's no coincidence that our fortunes changed with his re-introduction to the squad last month. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1380 - 14/11/2025 09:09:57 2644394 Link 2 |

Quite unbelievable to be honest. I've always liked following the national team and thinking of Italy 94,16 Germany 15 Holland 01 etc. This must be the shock of shocks. Have to deliver a performance on Sunday now but the manager has probably got himself a new contract. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 4029 - 14/11/2025 09:27:03 2644397 Link 0 |

It's a great result for Ireland...on 30% possession. Portugal didn't seem to want to be there at all. We should have put more goals past them. That Armenia result is a haunter alalalalalum (USA) - Posts: 75 - 14/11/2025 10:33:28 2644409 Link 0 |

Balance? Can you not answer the question? Compare a good Christian to a good Muslim, Jew, etc.

I'd be critical of them most of the time, but ya have say fair play to them. Some performance, best since the euros. Great attitude, work rate and just smart play. Troy Parrot gave a lot more than just the goals as well, brilliant at holding up the ball and laying it off or even taking on a man. Need to do it all again now against Hungary.

Portugal still automatically qualify with a home win over Armenia. Hungary likely need a draw or better versus Ireland just to make the playoffs, and eliminate us. That might explain any motivational issues that Portugal had last night. A win in Hungary is probably a bigger challenge than winning last night.

Yeah, he was immense last night. Shout out to Cullen as well, he's took a fair bit of stick (as have all our midfielders tbf) but produced a great performance for 90+ minutes. It's a very quick turnaround to travel and play again on Sunday, but we could benefit from having a "team of Championship players" as they're well used to playing Saturday-Tuesday.... streaker (Galway) - Posts: 566 - 14/11/2025 11:13:50 2644427 Link 0 |

Good to see Parrott delivering on his potential at last. He seemed to lose his way a bit in London for a few years but the Dutch air seems to have turned him around.
