There wont be much appetite for Mayo to go to Croke Park for a group game. Mayo have already been to Croker twice this year to get beat. The novelty is well worn off, especially seeing as they will probably be back out again the following week. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1390 - 14/05/2025 11:27:45 2609499 Link 0 |
Yes but dissent was always there and now it almost gone completely. Everyone hearing what the ref has to say and what's being said to the ref can only help players and fans. The bringing of the ball forward now for dissent has such an impact on the game because of the two point rule it must only be used where there is dissent and right now we only have the ref to go by.

COC going very well with Club, is there any chance of him returning to the squad? martinjoe (Mayo) - Posts: 553 - 16/05/2025 11:29:42 2609999 Link 0 |
Not under current management, apparently.

Clare, you're in a bad state if you need Cillian. He is currently scoring in a very poor Mayo senior football league. He is too slow, you've no pace in that Mayo forward line as it is. Move on. How is your friend Jim1991? PS it is disappointing the way you hide behind a forum and slate Kevin McStay after all he has given Mayo. Ha!

Ohora no great loss, Hession, Mchugh Mcbrien Callinan all better players. No doubt if COC was involved 2 weeks ago he would be shooting not Ruane had a similar miss in salthill last year. jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1528 - 16/05/2025 13:41:53 2610033 Link 0 |
Mayo club football been very poor in recent years but this years has seen a big improvement so far. Good quality high scoring games….you been to many yourself?

I've been to more games than Clare from the blog, aka S1234 and more club games in my life than her other pseudonym (JimB1991). I've been to 5 games this year in Mayo as I've a friend associated with a certain club and another involved in one of the Mayo backroom teams. Have you seen any Galway club football yourself? As with Galway league games, you can't judge any forward as the intercounty defenders are with their respective squads. Intercounty football is all about pace and Cillian doesn't have it any more. He might kick 10 or 12 scores but he won't at Intercounty level no matter how romantic the notion is. Time waits for no man. We've similar in Galway with BmcH at Mountbellew, he scores double digits every week, but could he get them scores of a Tyrone, Kerry, Armagh or Donegal defense? I would doubt it, as free kicks aren't conceeded in the kill zone and he lacks the yard of pace unfortunately for us. GDL (Galway) - Posts: 809 - 17/05/2025 10:04:02 2610170 Link 1 |
I've not been to any Galway club games but I was not the one taking a swipe at club football in your county. You were doing so in relation to Mayo club football. Anyway I agree on Cillian, great player but his day has come and gone. Mayo need to be looking to the future now and nuturing the u20 lads and bringing them through. No guarantees of course but there is talent coming I feel. Swings and roundabouts, Galway currently no1 but it will swing back again eventually. The big question is can Galway make hay while the sun shines (something we couldn't do). Time will tell…. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11576 - 17/05/2025 14:23:29 2610222 Link 0 |
I hope they can and think they will. They'll surely let us know all about when they do but they'll have earned them bragging rights.
