Totally agree. Kieran should be spoken in the same breath as Monaghan greats.

Here come on, he was a really good player, really good, but he was no where near the levels of greats like mc manus, nudie, Beggan, Eamonn mc enaney, etc Hes in the same breath as Wylies, Walshe, mc carthy, Bannigan, Malone, to name a few more recent men. He had a lot of games in a county shirt where he failed to deceive too, lets be honest. Great player but no where anywhere near the greats of monaghan football. monaghanmad (Monaghan) - Posts: 439 - 15/12/2025 16:03:24 2648433 Link 0 |

Tier 3 Banningan & McCarthy Tier 2 Wendell Tier 1 Malone & Drew Kieran is up there with Conor. Different calibre from the one cloth. Manzys only position was inside, Kieran could do it at 3 or 14. farneygael3 (Monaghan) - Posts: 485 - 15/12/2025 16:44:23 2648437 Link 0 |

The original post mentioned injury concerns and thats the point. i think if he was fully fit he'd have certainly picked up an all star at some point...btw walshe and mccarthy have all stars...dont know about your criteria for "monaghan greats" but thats enough for me and as i say hughes surely wouldve gotten one if he was fit btw an all star isnt the only thing to make someone an all time great. finlay and darren hughes two good examples MalsBalls (Monaghan) - Posts: 250 - 16/12/2025 09:26:26 2648496 Link 0 |
