I think people here like the idea of Divisional sides but you must remember Kerry only has 9 senior club teams.... (hence their dominance in junior and intermediate club level) and around 70 clubs overall.... Its a good idea in theory but then who we send to represent Monaghan if a senior club doesn't win it? When is it played? Do we play a senior senior club champ ? veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 641 - 30/10/2024 11:42:58 2577577 Link 0 |
Hard to disagree with the need to shake things up in the football league/championship games. The league is a series of glorified challenge matches and the championship has too many dead rubbers and not enough jeopardy in the early stages. Yes it's about time we create a championship that allows other divisional sides to enter the SFC, not just the Tydavnet, Scotstown, Ballinode and Knocktallon amalgamation. HB245 (Monaghan) - Posts: 247 - 30/10/2024 15:07:25 2577625 Link 0 |
Population alone can not win you a championship! It's the lazy argument for you … you'd swear scotstown just get together for games and numbers will win everything! It's takes savage work and delegation! Far too easy to sit on your high stool and give out … most clubs knew this day would come when scotstown got their house in order and other clubs just give out! Educate your coaches, get proper coaching structures!

Different winner every year from 2005. Best championship in the country

The Scotstown bashing is getting a bit draining now and it is only because they have been successful in their history and within the last decade. But the counter arguments of the Ballinode/Scotstown/Knockatallon/Tydavant area are valid. We do not want seeing a fore gone conclusion championships. It has never served us well in the past when it comes to successful county teams and never will. Plus it won't serve Scotstown well trying to inflatrate Ulster. County board is changing hands in December not sure what positions are changing but believe it's chairman and secretary is two that will be contested. These are important positions so who is best placed to continue the good work that goes on? farneygael3 (Monaghan) - Posts: 56 - 01/11/2024 14:02:57 2577839 Link 0 |

Exactly! Great for the hurling town of Blayney. Not so good for Inniskeen

Some win for the Blayney hurlers! They really do rule the roost when it comes to hurling and football , Scotstown could only dream of having 3 Ulster titles. Even with all their amalgamated parishes Monaghan37 (Monaghan) - Posts: 29 - 02/11/2024 18:40:56 2577971 Link 0 |
Congratulations to the hurling stronghold Castleblayney 17 point to 1.13 over Middletown I can see now why the football management stepped down maybe the hurling management should take over the footballers like Loughmore castliney in Tipperary and Slaughneil. Hard luck to Inniskeen who lost 3.33 to 1.07 farneygael3 (Monaghan) - Posts: 56 - 02/11/2024 19:43:59 2577990 Link 0 |

A good win for the Blayney hurlers not the faughs. Probably about time they took an intermediate win but a good win all the same. How far can they go? Good to to see small ball interest on this forum. 222 (UK) - Posts: 803 - 02/11/2024 21:29:10 2578015 Link 0 |

Well done the Blayney hurlers, great win against a team that has had their number of a long time! From looking at the starting team Blackhill, Donaghmoyne and Faughs represented in dual players. Hugh Byrne & Aaron Kenny Blackhill. Colin Merrick, Declan Hughes, Brian Flanagan, Conall McHugh, Thomas Hughes, Mark Treanor for the Faughs and Niall Garland for Donaghmoyne. A few more Faughs on the bench as well as Declan Crowe (Oram). MrPBoylan (Monaghan) - Posts: 203 - 03/11/2024 11:07:20 2578061 Link 0 |
How many of Blayney are on the county squad out of interest and how does their club exploits transfer to the team i.e is the county hurling team competitive as I know they are playing in the lowest division in league and championship after relegation in both last year.
