Don't think they will, for some reason they still play like a team that are still trying to figure themselves out. Conor Turbitt carries them.

I suppose it is Scotstown's to lose - they will want to go one better than last year and win an Ulster. However, I really think the Ulster is a grasp too much for them with a aging well weathered squad. Dark horses are Latton who are showing improvements this year. Inniskeen will be there or there abouts. MuineachanAbu (Monaghan) - Posts: 660 - 01/07/2024 09:12:40 2556136 Link 0 |

Intermediate group B is a group of death. most of the teams have the ability to beat each other bar Blayney. Magheracloone should win group A handy. This is the best intermediate championship in a long long time. Senior seems predictable enough. Scotstown will stroll through their group while Inniskeen and Latton should have too much quality in group B. Junior - group A looks the toughest to emerge from. Group B seems a good bit weaker. sleater (Monaghan) - Posts: 161 - 02/07/2024 08:58:32 2556424 Link 0 |

Championship groups: MrPBoylan (Monaghan) - Posts: 203 - 02/07/2024 13:22:23 2556504 Link 0 |
Wonder if they would ever consider seeding groups based on league position. Looking at those intermediate groups, it's almost a direct halfway split of the current table (Blayney and Magheracloone aside). Not balanced at all.

There is limited seeding in the current format. Seeding for senior is last years championship and league winners. Intermediate and Junior seedings are for two teams relegated from higher grade. I like the open draw, gives it a bit more spice rather that having groups where its clear who wins. I would argue based on the draw that intermediate will be the most interesting grade this year. Should be even games throughout. MrPBoylan (Monaghan) - Posts: 203 - 03/07/2024 13:10:00 2556719 Link 0 |
The banty and rory are getting the job I feel they will do a good job. With the split session they could be back for the championship for corduff after as well.

Why would he go back to a group of players that threw him under the bus a few years ago. He wasn't the problem then but isn't the answer now. MonaghanMan44life (Monaghan) - Posts: 14 - 08/07/2024 12:10:38 2557672 Link 0 |
How are Eire Og in the Junior quaterfinals? Going by the table it should be scotstown should it not? farneygael (Monaghan) - Posts: 296 - 08/07/2024 14:17:02 2557703 Link 0 |
3 way tie and went to head to head instead of score difference, Eire Og had beat the other two teams.

Never heard of a 3 way tie been done like that unless the points difference was the same .. strange

Yous are hardly going to whinge in moynas over your "3rd" team loosing out on making the top 6…it's only a feeder to the 1st and 2nd team anyway…

There was a motion at Congress this year in relation to these situations, so that there would be a uniform approach across the association, instead of every county having their own interpretation. I think the motion was carried, but don't think it comes into force across the board until next year.

How it is in most counties. Mini league. If still level then score difference in games between the clubs involved. Fairest way.

Technically it's the 2nd team. The reserve league not exactly the highest of standard. The junior team feeds to the senior team .. reserve is just a training match realistically for some players. Scotstown 3 reserve teams are all top of their respective reserve leagues … Not whinging at all. Scotstown can't get promoted anyway I believe. veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 640 - 09/07/2024 08:03:17 2557918 Link 0 |
Oh well Mick. Luckily for the people of Tydavnet, Scotstown, Ballinode and Knocktallon, they've got another 4 Scotstown adult teams to root for this year even if their 3rd team is knocked out! The only club in Ulster that can field 5 adult teams comes from the smallest county in Ulster… How one club can have such a large % of the population to pick from is lunacy. Saying it as if they are breaking some rule… I'm pretty sure there are players playing for the same 3 reserve teams ..,
