We have stayed in the top tier since. We really should have had an All Ireland final appearence in the last 10 years (2018 was our best chance) We'll judge Monaghan's year this year after the group stages."
Cavan were building up to it reached the final in 2019 beating yourselves and Armagh on route to the final.

Congrats on your "stayed in division 1" and AI semi-final appearance trophies. They'll live long in memory. Probably time to set up a dedicated museum in Clones. In fact you stayed in Div 1 for so long they should name the "stayed in division 1" trophy after yis, keep it even

of course... any true supporter would take any championship defeat badly, especially when Monaghan were favourites, but I'd take it worse if it was in the group stages. I also took the Fermanage defeat in 2018 badly, but we went a good run after that and should have made the All-Ireland final.
It just seems that Cavan lads still begrudge the fact that Monaghan are a top tier side for past 10 years with great underage success within this period too and Cavan are just going up and down from Div 2 to Div 4. (yes, I'm purposely ignoring 2020, it was a complete fluke and any true Cavan supporter knows that)
Anyway, best of luck to Cavan on Sunday against Tyrone and I mean that.. I just think that Cavan have peaked already whereas Monaghan have a lot more to offer this year... I hope :)

to be honest, I'd put your runners-up medal in the Tailteann cup ahead of your 2020 Ulster Championship win.

Sure I'd imagine you sat at home eating raw mushrooms and drinking green diesel watching Monaghan get beaten, again, by Cavan.

I think in general the rivalry is one sided. Cavan live and die on beating Monaghan! Monaghan fans judge their year on their league and championship. We have moved on and aim high. Everyone on here has acknowledged Cavan were better on the day … that's football but your year is judge on the whole champ! It's a bitterness ingrained in Cavan people that beating Monaghan is the end all and be all. We are wise enough here to recognise we compete at the very top level and consistently have. The provincial championships are more or less meaningless now as the proper championship starts after them.

Definitely a 1 sided 'rivalry' with one team having won 5 all irelands and the other not getting remotely close to winning any.

What peaks Cavan's interest in the current battles between the sides is the fact that a far from vintage Cavan have now beaten Monaghan's greatest ever side 3 times on the bounce.

Even at our worst, we're better than Monaghan.

HaHa.. this one made me laugh even more.. I think football has changed a lot since the 1940's.. LOL its funny that you probably spend more time on the Monaghan forum then the Cavan one.. do Cavan even have a Forum.. ? I have no real interest anyway. As Vetern says, Cavan only care about beating Monaghan, so I don't expect anything else from Cavan this year, well done on achieving your target for the year :)

1 national league and 0 All-Irelands in 137 years. I'd judge that as an abject failure. Maybe you should reevaluate your standards particularly when you're regularly beat by a county you somehow deem beneath you

Isn't Veterngaa Tom Smith? You have greater ambition. Don't make me laugh. You're absolutely never going to win Sam. Therefore, the only competitions you can be ambitious about are Ulster and a league title. You're winning neither this year. There's no title for finishing as losing quarter finalists. If that's your idea of ambition then you'd want to wind your neck in.

A couple of massive wins for scotstown, magheracloone and truagh , but probably the most eye catching result was tyholland beating castleblaney!!

Big win for Tyholland and massive 2pts to start them off. Could be huge.

Blackhill short a good few I believe and Truagh probably wanted to make a good start so not as impressed there.

Corduff with narrow loss and big win killanny and latton.

Not as impressed with scotstown either seeing as they had all the county men playing.
