But the Leinster Hurling Championship doesn't start until the 17th? Doesn't affect next weekends game?

Replying To A_Chairde:  "Todays performance was the best Ive seen out of St Lomans in years. Dunshaughlin had beat all top teams in Meath ( Summerhill, Ratoath, Dunboyne and Wolfe Tones) to win county title so this was the best Meath had to offer. Meath men behind me couldnt believe how Dunshaughlin were torn apart. Really impressed with Jack ODonoghue. Hes grown in stature and definitely worth a look for the county. The Mc Cartans as usual were excellent and Fola caused lots of damage. It will take a very good team to stop Lomans. Definitely have a right good chance at winning Leinster title with Kilmacud out of the picture."
I agree Lomans are Leinster contenders. The Downs almost did it last year so why would they not be. We need as a county to believe in ourselves more but dont get carried away about trouncing the Meath champions they would be hard pushed to beat Kinnegad or Tyrellspass.

Jack Geoghegan that should read. Mixed up with the Garrycastle captain

Fair Enough. Tough on Castletown to come to Mullingar mid week. Probably a two hour trip on a bus. With the game to throw in at 7:30 they will have to be leaving at around 3 o clock as they have to factor in M50 traffic. Tough on lads who will have to take a day off work. Even for Lomans lads that work in Dublin it will be tough.

At the same time it will be great for Lomans to have a home game in Lakepoint Park under lights.

As of now St Marys of Ardee are Lomans only threat on their side of the draw. The Downs beat them handy two years ago but they gave Crokes a right good game last year. Would still expect Lomans to reach Leinster final. They will more than likely then play the winners of Cuala and Naas. With Crokes gone both Naas and Lomans will see this as a great chance of winning Leinster.

Would be super for the county if both Garrycastle and Lomans went the whole way!!

Don't write off Castletown. Shelmaliers from Wexford gave Lomans plenty of it last year,

Amazing what can be achieved in a "few weeks". Mullingar Shamrocks have raised over €250,000, half the sum needed for their development plans. To put this into perspective, the county board (or clubs I should say) raised €170,000 from their major fundraiser last year.

St Loman's will beat Castletown quite easily. St Mary's from Ardee won 3 in a row in Louth and will be a tougher test if they meet them in a semi final.

Won't be any Centre of Excellence in Westmeath for 10+ years and no lights in our county ground. We are streets behind other counties. Fair Play to Shamrocks and every other club in the county who are raising funds to better the development of their clubs.

I could be wrong , but I think that's half the sum just to buy the land. Actually developing it will be more again ; but they'll be able to access grants for that. Can't use grants to buy land. I suspect they'll have their new facility up and running long before the Centre of Excellence across the road
