Boden finished top of the League table anyway - so they deserve it.

Not the first final this year involving KC that leaves a bitter taste. . cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5245 - 08/12/2023 19:10:20 2516053 Link 2 |
Yes definitely they were the best team this year. Not sure why a league needs semi finals & a final!

I'd have to agree with this. Surely they could have fielded a team. I'm from a very small club. We had pretty much our whole first 15 unavailable for a league match earlier this year, but still fielded a team. We used a lot of the junior team. We had requested the game be moved, but it wasn't an option so we got on with it. We lost, but it was still better than not playing at all. The game at the higher level was good for some of the fringe players. Now maybe I'm wrong, but I'd be staggered if Kilmacud couldn't pull 15 to 20 lads together. How many adult teams do they have? I think they have 8 adult teams, but open to correction. Totally agree on the point they should have fielded its a disgrace. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 744 - 09/12/2023 12:25:53 2516101 Link 0 |
This was a final though, it was really bad form to schedule it for a few days after Crokes play in the Leinster final. Boden also refused to move the fixture. Not surprised Crokes players didnt play, and the Dublin County Board pretend to care about player burnout ! Ha ha

Crokes played the semi-final "a few days" before the Leinster Final. They used the semi-final to give their extended panel runout. When they won that they knew when the league was fixed for. After Leinster they waited until the morning of the league final to announce they wouldn't play. Player welfare is a joke term being used by Crokes. They had plenty of players available but clearly wanted the tail to wag the dog. Great to see the CCC stand up to them and bow before them. Crokes have lost a huge amount of respect and friends arising out of their decision. No club is bigger than the Association.

Crokes lost plenty of respect with the stunt they pulled in January too. They can't have much left at this stage. A club that has a panel of 30 for their first team and 6 other adult male teams and still reckon they couldn't field a team. Embarrassing. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1188 - 10/12/2023 13:07:00 2516184 Link 1 |
Every big club was giving walkovers - Na Fianna, Vincents, Raheny..etc in the past few months. Then as you say the county board decide to schedule the semi final a few days before and then final a few days after the Leinster final. No fan of Crokes but its a joke how badly the league is run by the county board.

The northern sense of victimhood is quite incredible

Answer me this, how is it victimhood? You might want to brush up on your geography as well. Last time I checked the map Donegal was not in the 'North'. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1188 - 10/12/2023 16:04:43 2516210 Link 1 |
It's hardly outrageous for Donegal to be called "northern"...my comment wasn't limited to the 6 counties
Kingcon (Dublin) - Posts: 14 - 10/12/2023 17:01:56 2516217 Link 0 |
Again, how did you consider my comment victimhood?

Because you seem to be all in on some great injustice against your northern neighbour in January. Nonsense Kingcon (Dublin) - Posts: 14 - 10/12/2023 20:39:16 2516263 Link 1 |
The most northern parts of the island is in Donegal, no?

Still not in the 'North' nor are we ever referred to as 'Northerners'.

I see that Dublin hurlers have opted to play two of their three home games in Parnell this year. The only exception is February 24 which is double header with hurlers playing Limerick - not played them since 2018 league semi final - and footballers v Kerry. Should get a big crowd in for that. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3508 - 11/12/2023 10:20:51 2516320 Link 2 |
PP is definitely more of a Home for the Dublin Hurlers, and hopefully it will give a better chance of a result in each of those 2 games. The double header will defo get a sizeable crowd going to it. As you say, winning 3 games will be a tall order.... Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4228 - 11/12/2023 12:04:53 2516334 Link 0 |
