Senior championship is very hard to call this year An Tochar and Rathnew probably favourites. Tinehely will want to defend their crown and I can't imagine Blesso or Baltinglass will be too far away either. Both Dunlavin and Kiltegan will want to push on from their semi final appearances last year and will give any team in Wicklow a headache when they play them. I'm going to be awfully biased and Say Dunlavin for Miley Avondale for the intermediate crown And shillelagh/coolboy to win junior A Dunlavin4Miley (Wicklow) - Posts: 24 - 09/07/2025 17:26:43 2624684 Link 0 |
I agree with you, up to a point. Agreed, Dunlavin put Tochair in their place last year and I think Tochair might struggle in the early rounds with a team that is only getting back together after county commitments and by then it could be too late. Dunlavin will make it tough for whoever wants to win it. I don't know what to make of Tinahely, AGB or Eire Og. Rathnew can never be written off but I don't think they have the players for a sustained run. If I was a gambling man, I might have a little punt on Blesso. .

Great news that Oisin is staying on with us. I thought he would be leaving given other managerial openings around the country onwards and upwards now! stringfellohawk (Wicklow) - Posts: 139 - 10/07/2025 10:06:26 2624763 Link 0 |
McConville staying on for another two years. Dunlavin4Miley (Wicklow) - Posts: 24 - 10/07/2025 10:07:21 2624764 Link 0 |
I hear Oisin McConville has been reappointed for another 2 years. I think this is a great move for the county. I hope Frankie Dolan stays on board as coach and maybe it's time to get new selectors on board to freshen things up. kodak13 (Wicklow) - Posts: 89 - 10/07/2025 10:18:30 2624768 Link 0 |
Great news, in my opinion. But he needs to strengthen the squad. He needs more players who will break tackles and burst through to the heart of the D. Also, some kind of coaching incentives to take on long range kicking for points. Freethinker (Wicklow) - Posts: 1733 - 10/07/2025 10:41:47 2624771 Link 0 |
Surprising but great news, big commitment with the likes of Louth and Cavan on the market. FrankieJoe (Wicklow) - Posts: 102 - 10/07/2025 18:14:51 2624870 Link 0 |
I am pleasantly surprised by today's announcement. I'm pleased that the county board have opted to give Oisin two more years. It allows him and his management team to build on the foundations they have established with this young squad. There are a couple of challenges to be met by the management. I hope I'm wrong but I would expect Dean Healy to step away from the team in 2026. Again, I hope I'm wrong. Either way Oisin will need to identify someone who can play in this role in the next couple of years. He tried a number of different options this year during the league so it will be interesting to see what he does in this area in '26. I don't think he has found the right combination up front yet. There are a number of players who are playing in the forwards who are not prolific. Evidence this year demonstrates how important scoring is under the new rules. Our forwards create chances but converting those chances to scores has been poor this year. Equally closing out games when a result is required must improve if we are to be promoted and to go one step further in the Tailteann cup. I commend the county board for securing Oisin's services for another two years. Hopefully some new players can light up the club championship and be included in his plans in 2026.
