I don't think many people saw the hammering that Molaise Gaels got last night from Cloonacool in the Div 3 final. I think Drumcliffe will win this evening and Molaise seniors to win Div 1 tomorrow.

Congrats to St Molaise Gaels winning the Division 1 league. Fair to say both teams will need to improve for Championship.

Both teams at a disadvantage with championship next weekend...to make it fair on teams who take league seriously top team should just be crowned champions.

It was a bit dull to say the least. An element maybe of both teams not wanting to show their full card yet seeing as they will meet at least once in the next number of weeks. I still think it was more important to Molaise that they won the game ahead of championship. Was in Tubbercurry to see the division 2 final on Saturday. It's really hard to know what to make of Drumcliffe. At times looking so controlled and dominant and then seem to invite on pressure. You'd really wonder about their thinking at times. It was a game they should have won much earlier but credit to Enniscrone who certainly won't be a pushover for Coolaney/Mullinarbreena or Eastern Harps in Intermediate. Congrats also to Cloonacool on their comfortable win.

Hard to expect teams to go full pelt in a league final and championship starting this weekend.

The shadow boxing is over and its the real stuff now. Few teams will still be under strength with players away and all that but let's hope for good entertainment to kick off the champ. League form as it was so disjointed could go out the window for a few teams and I expect plenty of shocks.

Good to see some reports on the games, was away the weekend but tuned in for the Div one final. It is great for Gaels to be able to watch this when not able to attend. Molaise were the better team and if they can improve in defence, have the forwards and midfielders to do damage.
Delighted to see Cloonacool go up to Div 2 and think everyone is looking forward to Tubercurry V Cloonacool derby ,
Thought DRP would have won a lot easier in normal time but in fairness, some result to win by 10 points.
Excitement is building for championship, we will know a lot more after 3-4 weeks.

Amazing to think only round 1 fixtures confirmed. So poor from the CCC. Plenty of them at this weekends league finals for one reason or another

This is the most disorganised that I can remember the fixtures for many a year. It's been voiced plenty and it seems the talk at the league finals was about the county board and the fixtures, but I doubt they'll pay any heed or listen. I see games fixed for 5pm on Sunday, zero consideration for players who actually live and work outside the county who might need to head away on Sunday after playing a game. Something will have to change or players won't put up with this for much longer.

It's shocking, there is no consideration for the players. The County Board recently relaunched Club Sligo and there was an onus on clubs to sell a minimum of 17 tickets, imagine asking a club player to purchase one of them when they can't even let the players know when their games are. Is Markiveciz Park closed? If so can't understand why the Division 1 final wasn't played in Collooney, right in the middle for Molaise and Tourlestrane.

I think Collooney pulled the shutters down and have no interest in hosting too many neutral games. Glad that the championship is starting, hopefully we will get loads of entertainment, shock results and maybe even match reports.

It was probably a difficult match on many fronts the div1 final. The weather with the cross wind effected the shooting but some of the shot selection was poor at times. We have only won the league once before in 2011 and lost 2 recent league finals narrowly so it was important for us to win this one. Added in we needed to show we are bouncing back after last years championship final. The proximity to the championship cannot be easy from a mindset and tactical standpoint but both teams will have learned plenty from it.

The CCC have got a lot of criticism on here and by all accounts rightly so. Its a no brainer to have the league final earlier or not at all. It should never be rolled into the championship with a week to spare.

There are lots of ways to improve to the fixtures that should be built on year on year. Not sure why there is a drop off on the admin side.

Congrats to Drumcliffe and Cloonacool winning the Div2 and 3 titles.

There's a drop off on the admin because like all these committees it's stuffed with non football people who haven't a clue what they are at. That's the bottom line

Collooney hosted an underage final last week and there's a senior championship been game played there this weekend.

Not defending the CCC but its not the bord of RTE or the HSE, its volunteers and anyone on here can get a job volunteering for SligoGaa if they are willing to give up their evenings and free time. If you dont like it its within you powers to help change it.

Well that is one of the most naive posts I've seen here. It's a closed shop and if you're not in the club of a select few you ain't getting in.

You're right Mr. Underhill.
It's not and if they've no interest in doing it half right, then why do it at all? I mean, it's hardly rocket science and doesn't need more time or additional meetings. A bit of player input and common sense would go a long way. Have they ever asked the players what they wanted, or expect, or for some help? No. But they'll expect the player to get off work with a few days notice or to explain to their spouses why they cant commit to any family events because they haven't got a clue what day a game is on. A lifestyle balance is vital to those involved and the young guys coming through. Football will be the one to sufger when these decisions are being made.
And I'm telling you now, it's not that easy to get changes on these kinds of committees. You know that just as well as I do. A few hold plenty of control and if you toe the line you'll be OK. Anyone that tries to think outside the box down there, would be ostracised very quickly. Throwing a line like, "Sure do it yourself" won't add anything here. These guys have put themselves into this position and should be doing a better job, simple as that. Imagine a lad down to work next Saturday week, still not knowing if he needs it off? They have no idea to the pressures poor scheduling can bring. Every single championship fixture should be long fixed with a time (and not 5pm on a Sunday). The pitches can come closer to the day.
Speaking to players, coaches and referees from clubs all over the county, they're sick of it. No wonder numbers for all three of those are dwindling. High time the CCC either do the job they're supposed to, or step aside and let someone else do it.

Cross wind did have an impact. Tourlestranne had a couple of goal chances which they failed to take but Molaise were definitely deserving winners on the day. Congrats to DRP and Cloonacool also.

On the issue of fixtures - this is without doubt the most shambolic year in a long time when it comes to them been finalised. 11 days out from round 2 (10 if there is going to be Friday games) and no fixtures released yet. Even if the politicking around venue selection cannot be resolved yet at least release the day & times of the games. Total disregard for club players. A couple of strange venue selections for round 1 too as well as 4 games after 4pm on Sunday!

Predictions for the weekend:

Tubber v Shamrock Gaels - Shamrock Gaels
Curry v Molaise - Molsise
Easkey v Calry - Calry
Marys v Tourlestranne - Tourlestranne

Bunninadden v St Johns - Draw
Geevagh v Castleconnor - Geevagh
Harps v Coolaney - Coolaney
Pats v Farnans - Farnans

St Michaels v Shamrock Gaels - Shamrock Gaels
St Molaise v Tourlestranne - Molaise

Overall:
Senior - Molaise
Intermediate - Coolaney
Junior A - Cloonacool
