Yeah brilliant to see Karl back involved. It's vital to have your best people on board and he certainly falls into that category. Onwards and upwards!

He's not just going in as 16s coach. There will be more developments with Lacey. Also a couple more of the 2012 winning team will be involved as academy coaches.

No doubt I'll be heavily criticised for saying this. Karl Lacey was a legend as a player... but when he was in charge of the academy last time, multiple 'high risk' issues were raised by the Croke Park review. Seems strange that he would be reappointed to a leadership role in the academy.

Not everything was perfect last time around. It never is. But that Croke Park review was conducted while the old county board structure was in place and they were drip feeding information and trying to deflect blame elsewhere. Lacey never liked how the county board was run and he was rightly or wrongly finding ways to work around them. This included funding that would be raised privately and solely for the benefit of the academy. There was no trust with the county board. Things are very different now behind the scenes. Lacey will have full control of the academy and that is what all the coaches involved want.

Jaysus Mayo man, Did you forget to log-in using your Donegal account/accounts?

I only have one account here. Hope that's ok with you.

There was clearly guilt on all sides last time round. Hopefully lessons have been learned.
There is a more competent county board in place now so hopefully that will mean that all spend will be monitored and accounted for properly.

It's a wonderful time to be a Donegal GAA supporter. Jim at the helm, Murph back doing his thing, Karl Lacey returning to the Academy. Even the hurlers are operating at a higher level than ever before.

Let's all hope that the momentum we now have as a county continues, and that we can build with having these top people in the respective roles. I would have little hesitation on supporting any of the fundraisers now compared previous reluctance. I'd imagine that this is multiplied by the many sponsors now on board.

It sure is. I really think we'll be close this year. We will need a bit of luck on the injury front. Like our friend rorysboys said here before, in 2012 we were very lucky on the injury front. We pretty much went through the Championship campaign injury free as regards key players. I just think that with the current rules, and the condensed playing calendar, that injuries are an inevitability however.

The squad is very good at the moment. When you consider last Sunday, we were missing McBrearty, Mogan, McGee, Langan.

Announcing a development squad manager in the manner the PRO has done is utter woke nonsense.

Yeah it's a very welcome addition. Obviously in the here and now, we're all very content with how things are going. Division 1 status secure, a really strong panel and we're all looking forward to what lies in store in the Championship.

But Jim won't be around forever. It's vital that we don't squander the gains made since the new board was appointed, and Jim's return. Hopefully Lacey's reinstatement as head of the Academy will lead to a sustainable and sensible pathway for our future stars in green and gold.

Lacey is the man they are prepping to succeed Jim. That's the plan behind the scenes with all parties involved.

Can't be much to be shouting about in Monaghan if you're coming on here to post that?

Yeah it's a logical progression to senior county management for Lacey I suppose.
A smart man who has been there and done that on the playing field.

Just glad he's back in the fold and that his expertise isn't being availed of elsewhere.

No harm to you, come back when you have someone of Karls calibre in the job. I'll be waiting.

Who has replaced Paul O'Connor? Anyone.... No!
